TW: Suicidal Ideation. But you're reading fanfic, you already are.

...Elegant died? No, it couldn't be. She's Miss Elegant, she's a witch, she could survive anything! But, this was the last story. There were no other alternatives. There was no other ending.

But death. A forgotten tale. Oblivion.

Elegant was dead, burned, and carved onto a stake. She's nothing but ashes now. A corpse. There's no coming back for it. She'll never see her again.

She's gone in smoke.

Elegant was Miss Perfect's first love, and her best friend. She thought they were inseparable. She loved her like how yang adores yin, they were a perfect complementing duo. Pretty has to save her. She needs to. She can't live without her!

Curse those people who burned her! Screw the village, they should've burned instead. Better yet, she'll carve mountains with her bloodied hands to make a home for themselves. She'll punch Linda too.

Please, she just wants the pain to end. Elegant was right. Our existence was doomed before it already began.

She doesn't care how she does it, or how many times she has to suffer for Elegant to be by her side. If there's only one life with Elegant, she'll go through a million ones just to see her smile. And if she has to die to be by her side, so be it.

But she can't do anything. Miss Perfect was powerless, no, she wasn't perfect at all. Elegant was. Without the Ruby Eyes, her purpose vanished. There was no reason for her to live anymore. Elegant was gone, her ruby eyes were gone, and the only thing she had was Bandage and herself.

She was so useless! If only she'd been there, she could've let Elegant escape. Maybe, she would've convinced the villagers to let them both survive, but that was a pipe dream. There was no turning back from that agonizing damage.

Pretty was damaged. She was no longer Miss Perfect after all. Oh, look at you, how far you've fallen. Just a girl in a wasteland, equal to a Bandage.

At the end of the world, would Bandage still be there? Miss Perfect obviously noticed it, how day by day Bandage was losing their old self. They were becoming more obsessed about her by the day, it's likely they're taking this as hard as I am.

—------------------------------

There's no way Elegant's dead. Elegant was dead. No, no, Bandage couldn't believe it. The person they were so obsessed with, that they felt like they were taking over their identity — a corpse. Dust. He feels...empty. Instead of burning Elegant, the flames were cooking them from the inside all along. The girl they were losing themselves all this time was already burned.

They can almost feel it. No, they do. They remember her death. They remembered Elegant's scream. The sensation of that endless pain, the fire overtaking their body was almost real. It was the sensation of the charcoal that grounded them, reminding Bandage that this was real.

Bandage was almost certainly connected to their past life.

Maybe they were twins, friends, or another. When Elegant is confirmed dead, that hardly makes a difference. She'll still haunt them.

It's almost as if they were Elegant itself. That Elegant was an alternate image of them, reflected in the river of time. She was practically their mirror image.

Each passing day, they feel a bit more sophisticated, and get more comfortable with Pretty than they'd like to admit. Sometimes, when talking to her, the sensation of her spirit is palpable.

She was burned, and paid for her sins. But, Bandage would say they're in hell, and they can't find her anywhere. Strange.

No, they're onto something. Wasn't Elegant's skin burned beyond repair? She'd be lucky if she had skin and muscles left, much less bones. Elegant would end up in a wheelchair in the afterlife. No.

She'd have bandages.

Is Bandage Elegant? Or was Elegant Bandage? They gradually lost parts of their identity every day. The two identities, both Bandage and Elegant, were incredibly similar, but were they the same?

They couldn't be her....right? But it was the only explanation. Everything fell into place. Elegant's last wish was to see Miss Perfect in the afterlife. The woman they loved and Miss Perfect were one and the same.

Miss Perfect's eyes were purple. The same as Elegant's when she gave them to her. She stupidly insisted they were red, which Bandage thought was color blindness.

But colorblindness couldn't make sense, as she could see most other colors fine. No, they should've realized her eyes were important to her. It was one of the few things she remembered in this depressing place.

No, no. They were Bandage. Being Elegant is a ridiculous pipe dream, one made after overthinking. You're a just  normal amnesiac.

So, why could they feel her execution? Why did it all make sense?

Elegant was the only explanation.

Her last wish before she died was for them to make a home for themselves. She never expected it to work, the dazed words of a dead girl.

The home that they made for themselves was here. Away from the village, the chaos, just an empty place with only themselves. It was this place, wasn't it? Even if this land is unlivable, there's no chance there's only two people there.

It was even more of a coincidence that both were amnesiacs, and don't remember their past life. But, after reading the stories, they both knew they were too good at their banter. Their friendship was second nature, something that didn't have to be learned.

So...all this time, were they Elegant? What happened to Bandage? Will they be forgotten? Are they just a part of Elegant to be discarded?

Will they die? Were they even alive in the first place? A human? Not sure. They're dead, but Elegant was too. She was Elegant.

They could feel both a crushing relief and despair.

Memories echoed in their brain, a piece of knowledge in plain sight.

No, they're two sides of the same coin.

Those were the last words Miss Elegant said in Elevator Escape. The start of Bandage's obsession.

They laughed. It was right under their nose, all along.

The two parts of them, Bandage and Elegant, will forever be in her soul. She was both Elegant and bandage wrapped up in a duo. She and they were just different parts of the same person, and were forever whole. God, Bandage, no, Elegant as well, can't believe it.

They got what they wished for, time in the underworld, Xiao He, with Pretty. Ah, Elegant shouldn't have dragged her back here. To this hell.

But together, we can make it heaven. One iris and marigold at a time.

Ah, wasn't it convenient that she was Elegant all along? Wait, does that mean they got jealous of herselfBandage lowered their eyes in shame.

Ugh, whatever form she'll take, they'll still be in love with her.

Huh, that's a whole new meaning to Miss Perfect.
