Alex sat at her desk, reviewing schedules and contracts when there was a knock on the door. She barely looked up, still focused on her work. "Come in!" She called out.
The door opened, and Michael stepped in, his demeanor uneasy. Alex immediately noticed his discomfort and put down her pen, giving him her full attention. "Hey, Michael. What's up?"
Michael shifted from one foot to the other, clearly reluctant to speak. "Alex, there's something I need to tell you, it's about Morgan."
A knot of apprehension formed in Alex's stomach. She gestured for him to continue. "What is it?"
Michael hesitated before continuing. "A few weeks ago, Morgan saw you with Riley, and it really threw him off. He asked to leave the restaurant, and we went to a bar. Morgan got pretty drunk. I was talking with some friends and wasn't keeping a close eye on him, but when I looked back, he was kissing a random girl. Then they left together, I couldn't catch them."
Alex's breath caught. "I saw a news article today about Morgan being seen kissing someone at a bar. I didn't realize it was connected to that night, now I have to clear it up."
Michael nodded. "Morgan was trying to cope with seeing you with someone else, but instead of talking it out, he acted out."
Alex leaned back in her chair, her frustration palpable. "Why didn't he just talk to me? Why didn't he tell me how he felt?"
Michael's expression softened. "Morgan's been struggling with his feelings. He's not good at expressing his emotions, especially when he's hurt. Instead of confronting you directly, he let his emotions drive him to make poor choices."
As Michael left her office, Alex knew she needed to reach out to Morgan. It was time to clear up the misunderstandings, address the feelings left unspoken, and find a way forward that didn't leave either of them in the dark.
Alex: Hey, Morgan. Can we meet? I'd like to talk. I'm in the office.
She hesitated for a moment before pressing send, hoping that Morgan would agree to the meeting. While waiting for his response, Alex tried to focus on work, but her mind kept drifting back to everything Michael had told her. The thought of Morgan seeing her with Riley and reacting in such a way weighed heavily on her.
A few minutes later, her phone buzzed with a response from Morgan.
Morgan: Sure. I'll be there in 10.
True to his word, Morgan arrived at the office within ten minutes. He knocked gently on her door before entering, his expression unreadable. Alex gestured for him to sit down, trying to appear calm and collected.
"Hey." Morgan said, taking a seat across from her.
"Hey." Alex replied, offering a small smile to ease the tension. "Thanks for coming."
Morgan nodded, his eyes searching hers for a moment before he spoke. "You said you wanted to talk. What's up?"
Alex took a deep breath, meeting his gaze. "I heard about what happened a few weeks ago. When you saw me with Riley at the restaurant."
Morgan's expression shifted slightly, a mix of surprise and discomfort crossing his face. "Yeah, about that... I didn't know how to bring it up. It was stupid."
Alex shook her head gently. "It wasn't stupid, Morgan. I understand why you reacted that way, but I wish you had talked to me about it. I never meant to hurt you."
