6:30 p.m.
Work hour is over about two hours ago but I'm not moving from my office. I'm staring at my computer screen. I just tapped "Top 10 restaurants in California" on Google and see the results. Where should I take Anna to our date. I have no idea.
I hear a knock on my door. Evelyn steps in. She's not tall nor short just average. She's in her late twenties. She has a medium long straight blonde hair. I envy it. Also her blue eyes are the most beautiful I've ever seen. Well, comparing to Anna's brown eyes, she'll lose.
She looks so devastated, probably from a dozens of documents she has to review and make an endless phone call to our clients. She is a very hard-working person. I like her. As a friend. No. It's more than that. I mean big sister. She is my father's niece.
"Elsa, you work late" she says as she takes a seat in front of me. I nod in response. Still thinking.
"It's so unlike you. Usually, you just take your unfinished works home. Is it that important? Do you need any help?" she asks sincerely.
"Yes, please" i respond.
She walks towards my computer and stare at the screen a few moments and lift her eyebrow. She turns her head to face me.
"Umm Elsa, what is this?"
"I have a date tonight, Eve. She'll be here at 7 and i still don't know our destination." i reply . She is shocked. If only i take a picture of her face expression.
"Whoa, little girl. That's good. With who? Is she any good? Have you checked her background? Her family, her education, her...?" I cut her rambling slightly annoyed.
"You stop. I only take her to dinner not to marry her. I will get to know her better then. That is what the purpose of date, right. Her name is Anna, the beautiful woman who I met first three months ago at Café Saint-François. You remember?"
"Ah that girl. How can i forget. You talk about her all the time. But no single move you do. I'm kinda tired of it. I almost do it for you. Fortunately, you already did it" she says nonchalantly.
"Will you help or not? The clock is ticking." i groan in frustration. She chuckles. She looks at the screen again and point at a steak house.
"Everybody loves steak, except vegetarian."
"Ha ha." I laugh at her sarcastic remarks.
Suddenly my phone goes off. It's from Anna. I pick it up.
"Hello. What can I do for you, my princess?" Evelyn rolls her eyes and excuse herself mouthing a "Good luck". I nod and reply a "Thank you".
"I umm in the lobby. Can you come down?"
"Oh my apology. I'll be there in a minute"
"Okay" she hangs up.
I shut down my computer. Grab my car key. Lock my office and off to the elevator.
"Anna" i shout as soon as I reach the lobby. She turns to me and smile.
"Sorry for my tardiness. Are you ready" i motion her to follow me to the parking lot. She nods.
"I didn't see your car at the café this morning. Well, i never see you drive." she asks me as i reach my black Audi R8. I open the passenger door and she gets in saying thank you. I get to the driver seat and start the engine not forget to put on seatbelt.
"Yeah i use it occasionally. Only when i have a meeting outside or when it's raining. I prefer walk" i reply.
We sit there in silence. It's not an awkward silence. We just take our time together.
