Key for this:
MC: Main character
SC: Side character
BC: Background character
OC: Original character (which is more for fanfics)
(?): Optional or unnecessaryMC~ (I have a tdlr which is more helpful and basic)
For your MC you need a very detailed description for them. Not all the info you write will be needed for the story but it's really helpful so you don't end up stuffing the personality up or something and to just have a good guideline in general.
First you need to come up with their physical description, this would contain:
Eye colour, hair colour, body type, nationality, skin tone, lip shape/tone (?), freckles/moles (?), Make up (?), what they would generakky wear and any extra things you think you may need.
Then you would do personality which would go like:
Introvert/Extrovert/ambivertc, kind/caring, rude/mean, don't care-ish/cares a lot, clean freak/messy or untidy, hobbies/sports and then some mental disorders is you want like ADHD, Autism, bipolar, suicidal, insomnia, schizophrenia, depression ect. Maybe some other minor details you need like powers or things they're good at. Also do like a fav colour, fav food and stuff so you don't spend ages trying to think of one. Also add a couple family members for home life and a bit about that, like if they're abused or something!TDLR:
SC~
For side characters they don't have to have a very detailed, set description but it's great to have guidelines if they become a recurring character.
This would be:
Eye colour, hair colour, personality (not as descriptive but just a general if they're nice or a bully ect), body type (?), general outfit and a hobby or two if your MC meets them in a class or extra curricular (can include artistic things not just sports!). Maybe give them a sibling or twoBC~
These characters really do not need any description beside hair and eye colour, these characters are not readjusting mentioned just more of a 'Students milled around the halls' or something. Why would hair and eye colour be important then? You may ask, it's important because sometimes they are closely mentioned like 'A girls shiny black hair whipped my face as she sprinted past'OC~
For an OC depending on how important they are you can just base them off one of the previous sections. But a really important thing for creating OC's for a fanfic is that you need to make them fit the dynamic of their friends/enemies. If you make them a polar opposite and they're new/not apart of the series it's based on, they can stick out like a sore thumb and it isn't very attractive. I've seen many comp, iambs about that in fanfics I've read and some picky people would quit reading just for that!Just for fun~
If you want make your characters a playlist/theme song/s or a aesthetic board, it's a fun way to connect with your character of to listen to while writing about them to set the mood! If you're an artist make a painting or if you're crafty make something to do with them!
