We had found a rhythm within the group: Sightseeing before lunch, lunch wherever Keeho suggested, the afternoon at the fair, spending the evenings in the bar around the corner. It was clear where we'd meet, when to set out together and we didn't have to settle on much anymore. I wondered how it would be to be back home. Would we still stick around as often? Probably not, we still had our normal lives. But I guessed it would still be every now and then. I once again sat on the bench right in front of the fair grounds and enjoyed the rather silent surrounding. "Thought I'd find you here", I heard Theo and a second later he dropped down next to me, "Feels like I know every inch of the fair by now." I chuckled. "Same here. That's why I decided to come outside again. But we will only stay for one more day anyway." "Oh. True."
Silence fell between us, yet Theo seemed to be everything but relaxed. With this, I surely wouldn't be able to calm down either. I looked at him. "What's the matter?" "I just remembered I have to finish a melody for the music course until I get back." "Forgot about it?" "No. Just... Not sure if I like it. It's a whole new thing I tried out there." I tilted my head. "Well, why don't you do something you're used to for it and keep on working on the new thing until you like it?" "Trying out something new was kinda the task." "Oh, I see. Don't worry. You surely won't be the only one to be nervous about that. Should I ask Gina to listen to it? Maybe she has some advice for you?" Theo firmly shook his head. "Actually...", he gave back without looking at me, "I wondered if... Do you think... I mean... I remember it's a style you like. Would you listen to it?" He looked up shyly. As surprised as I was, I still could realize a certain fear in his eyes, like a little puppy begging you to love it, afraid to realize you are not. I nodded, smiling softly. He let go off a breath.
"I usually go more in a pop-direction with my music, even a bit electronic. Something you can dance to excitedly. Therefore, something more acoustic is very new to me. Yet, acoustic is so different. I mean, it's still music, how can it be so different?", he thought out loud while getting out his phone and earphones. I smiled amused. He still started to ramble whenever he was nervous. I put my hand on his arm and he stopped surprised. "I am sure I'll love it. You can't go wrong with acoustic for me, you know?" He tried a little smile while handing me the earphones. I took them and put them on. I saw him pressing play with a shaky thumb and only a few seconds later, a soft guitar tune started. I leaned back and closed my eyes to concentrate on the music even better.
I almost didn't realize the song was over as its notes still echoed in my head, painting beautiful portrays of peaceful sceneries, rivers flowing through vast fields, birds chirping and the wind swaying grass. It sounded like spring, sommer, fall and winter altogether, like the sun on one's face, like a cup of hot chocolate while watching snowflakes falling, like the last rays of sun through autumn leaves and a first flower signaling the begin of a new season. I took off the earphones and looked at him surprised. "Do you like it? Do you?", he asked. I tried to find words to describe it, but failed. "It's... It's..." "You don't, huh? Should have guessed so." "NO! No, Theo, I love it, I just can't put it in words. It's... too good for it. Where did you get the inspiration from?" "It's... something old I started a while back and couldn't finish then." "It's perfect." "Thanks."

"Ro, could you throw me the jacket over there?", Gina asked me and I did as told. A sheet with notes on it fell out. "Sorry", I mumbled as I picked it up and lay it on the bed next to the girl trying to get her make-up done. Jessy and her would go to a disco today, she told me. I couldn't help but glimpse at the paper. "Is that your music course project?", I wanted to know. "How do you know about it?", she asked back, genuinely curious. "Theo wanted me to listen to his today." "Theo?" "Yes?" "Even us fellow students barely get to listen to his works. He's very shy with it. Interesting enough, he showed you out of all." I stared at her confused. "Well... He said", I began, trying to find a reason for both of us, "that he knows I like the genre he chose and wanted to have a second opinion. He's very nervous about this whole 'trying something new'-thing." "Trying something new?" "A new genre than usually. Wasn't that the task?" "Ro, the job was to describe an inspiring situation with music. But I guess his usual style didn't fit whatever he had settled for." "I... I guess so. Yeah." "Aurora? You're good?" "Hmm? Oh, yes. Sorry, gotta go. The guys are waiting."
