The next target

"Well who is it?" I ask.
"Daniel Rich, I have my doubts on him. We had a little falling out on the business side. He is associated with these kind of stuff so I think it's him"
"Anyone else you doubt?" Asks Jean
"No one else comes to mind" he smiles. If it were someone else they would have fallen for it. But I'm too experienced I know that smile was fake.

"Well Mr Ashton don't take this the wrong way but there have been rumours that you are in the mafia yourself " I ask smiling back
"Well rumours are rumours you know how they are. Anyone can make a rumour Claire. Maybe even I can say you are with the mafia,maybe in the Blackstrong itself" he says sending a shiver down my spine.

It's as if he knew,it's as if he knew I had connections to Blackstrong. I could feel my heartbeat increasing but I kept my cool

Soon enough we left. As we were about to leave I asked him
"why do you look so unfazed about this whole situation. Sitting there I wouldn't think that fire scared you"
"Well officer its not my first house fire, ig I am not that scared"
"I see. Goodbye Ashton"
"Goodbye officer Claire Hashet"

On the ride back to the station I asked Jean what she thought of him.

"I think he is handsome and super hot and super rich-"
"No that's not what I meant...his personality did you feel something off with that?"
"No,he seemed like a good guy"
"But I felt like he was hiding something"
"Ay come on. It's normal to be skeptical about someone we are the police after all but I think he is a nice guy"
"How can you be sure"
"Well I did some digging. This guy was a star student in high-school,used to play football. He is really good in business,his profit is really high plus after I asked around I knew he was an orphan"
"Ohh"
"He built himself up. Also everyone I interviewed only had nice things to say about him,that he was nice,sweet,kind. He volunteers ar animal shelters,he does charity work"
"Hmmm..."
"Truly a dream guy right?"
"Yea right" I say.

Maybe I was wrong. Maybe I was too skeptical. He seemed like a good guy. Maybe he is one. Now my target is this Daniel Rich.

After we reached the station,we researched about this Daniel Rich guy. He is 32 years old,business man with a lot of connections. He also has several cases against him but there was no evidence to convict him. I know he is in the mafia cause I have seen him before.After all Blackstrong is a name I can't forget

"Jean can you make arrangements to meet this Daniel guy?"
"Yea sure"
"Even if we do find him,will his connections help him this time too?"
"Don't know...but I'll try it for my cutie Ashton"
"Oh please"

Looks like Jean has a liking for him. She was right he was kinda cute and if circumstances were different I would ask him out but I get a bad feeling from him,something I can't describe

Next day we were going to meet Mr Rich. We were at his restaurant. It was 5 star and really fancy,too fancy for police to be there.

"We are here to meet Mr Rich" Jean says at the front desk lady who looked like the sweetest thing in the world
"Right this way"
the Lady in the neat dress smiles and leads us through a room. At the end there was another room and we went in
"Good day officers" Mr Rich said
"Well good day to you too Mr Daniel Rich" I replied
"Have a seat" he said arrogantly
We sat down at the sofas he had in there. It looked like it was his office.
"So we are here to check some things out"
"Yes"
"Where were you on July 8 2023?"
"Well I was with my girlfriend Emily"
"But I thought you had a wife?" Jean interferes
"Well you don't know how the business works officer...I forgot to ask what were your names?"
"I am officer Jean Matts"
"I am officer Claire Hashet...but you already know our names and what we look like yes?"
"What do you mean? Officer..."
"Well it's just that you never asked for our ids...you called us right in by referring to us as officers. I know we called before coming in but how did you understand it was us. We are not in uniform at all"
"Wow Claire you're smarter than I thought but too bad I hate smart women"
"Because you can't best them" Jean attacks
"No because they are annoying as hell"
"I don't know if you looked into us or tailed us...Whatever I don't care. What I want to know is what were you doing on July 8th 2023?" I ask
"Well like I said, I was with my girlfriend Emily. I can give you her number if you want"
"Yes"
With that I take down here number. But this number is useless. Because people like him don't always do the crime front hand, he must have someone working for him. Even if I call his girlfriend,she will just back up his claims.

"Just asking to make sure...you don't have any ties with the Blackstrong mafia now do you?" Jean asks and I wish she didn't. Because she doesn't know something that he is a dangerous man. He have killed more people and did more bad things than this pages could hold. Those things will never be heard,seen or recorded on any files. That's how he does his business. I recognised him the moment i came in after all how could i forget. His name isn't Daniel Rich
