Underneath the soft, green glow of the arcade's neon sign, Y/n shuffled slowly, a mixture of hope and trepidation evident in her steps. Each step echoed faintly in the quiet street, as the arcade's inviting light seemed to pulse rhythmically, like a heartbeat that kept time with their anxious anticipation.

Memories of the previous night played like a faded reel in her mind—laughter, the clink of tokens, and a face that had promised to return.

As she neared the entrance, the warm hum of the arcade's interior beckoned her closer, each illuminated window offering a glimpse of the familiar, pixelated games.

She wondered if the same comforting energy would be there, waiting for her, or if the arcade would stand empty, a glowing monument to an unfulfilled promise.

"There," The boy murmured out, a small smile tugging on the corners of his lips as he was able to snatch a dragon plushie using the claw machine. He dropped the dragon into little pit, where he then picked it up and placed it into Y/n's arms.

She smiled brightly as he handed her the plushie before she immediately squeezed it in her arms, just taking in how soft and adorable it was, "Thank you!"

He waved his hands, shaking his head with a little smile, "No problem at all. I'm glad you like it"

"Ladies and Gentlemen, the arcade is now closing. Please leave as soon as you're done your rounds."

The boy sighed before turning to Y/n and smiling, "Well, if you ever need something, you know where to find me."

"Mhm!" Her smile was wide and infectious, causing his whole face to light up.

He walked her out of the arcade and spoke softly, "Stay safe, okay? Goodnight"

"Yeah, I will.. Goodnight..." She turned around, and began taking small steps towards her apartment building, still looking at him over her shoulder, to reassure herself that he was real.

He stood in front of the closed arcade, in the middle of the exiting crowd, watching the girl disappear into the night with her brand new plushie in arms, each step of hers bouncy and carefree.

The neon signs buzzed, casting their flickering green glow on the pavement where the boy stood still for a couple of minutes, before it completely went out for the night.

Idly, he remained standing in front of the arcade, contemplating about something related to the girl he hung out with for the past hour. Something bugged him about her, yet he quite wasn't able to put a finger on it.

"Oi!! Kinich! You wretched dastard!! You kept me waiting in there for hours and hours!!" A loud, obnoxious voice shouted out, causing the boy to let out a sigh and close his eyes in anticipation of what's to come.

A yellow 2D saurian came out of seemingly no where, and began hitting the boy's head with his pixalated fists out of pure seething rage and fury, "And you were HERE slacking off!!"

"I wasn't slacking off," The hoodie clad boy murmured, his breath breathy and hot, as he responded to his saurian companion, who was not buying it, "I was helping someone with something"

The saurian floated in front of Kinich's face, studying his master's nonchalant expression, which was almost impossible to decipher, "Oh yeah?! Helping 'em with what? How to be a stick in the mud?!"

The boy rolled his eyes, "No, I was.." He mumbled, thinking back to his interaction he had with the girl, before it finally clicked. And when it did, his expression stiffened, "I was trying to cheer her up a little.."

"Hah?"

"Something about her, it was screaming out for help... She looked like she can use a friend at the time"

"So you just ditched me to make some rando happy?!"

"I'd do it again."

"Maria~! The best thing just happened!" Y/n spoke in a singong voice, kicking her bedroom door open while having the most precious smile on her face

"Maria~! The best thing just happened!" Y/n spoke in a singong voice, kicking her bedroom door open while having the most precious smile on her face.

Her roommate, Maria, looked up from her phone at Y/n, and chuckled, "Oh yeah? Was there an offer on the chocolate milk?"

"... You're not funny."

"Sorry."

Y/n looked around the room, searching for the guy who was with Maria a few hours ago before she left, "Where's the dude?"

"Oh, he SND-ed" Maria stated nonchalantly, sneaking her hand into the bag of chips next to her, and grabbing a bunch that would soon be crushed by her teeth and swallowed down.

"What-"

"Smashed 'n' dashed"

"...Oh wow."

"Forget about thatt! What's up? What's got you all giggly~?" The blonde haired girl grinned, sitting up in her bed, the only thing covering her are sweaty and stinky bedsheets.

Y/n chuckled, and threw herself onto Maria's bed, bouncing slightly on the mattress, "Hehe~ I think I just met the love of my life!"

"Oh yeah?! Tell me all about it!"

Y/n stood there infront of the arcade, and stared at the automatic door in a daze, wondering if she'll be able to relive the same experience from yesternight, all the carefree feelings of joy and ease, back when she hung out with the sunkissed boy at the green-lit arcade.

You guys' luck is so bad😭. Suddenly when this blows up, I'm unable to write for some reason. I either am grounded for a week, and when I'm finally not, my mom gets mad at me and takes my laptop (yesterday), then for the whole day today, wifi wasn't working for the WHOLE city. (L country)

(Was miserably playing minecraft until the electricity went off and my whole world got deleted so I pathetically sat in my room, blasted old music i had saved on my laptop cuz that was my only choice, and made paper stars, until the wifi came back around 5pm.)
