Chapter 5- Elusive

"Do I really have to come with you?" 

"Stop being a stick in the mud, Y/n!" Maria shouted, as she was pacing back and forth around the room to get herself ready for her date, while Y/n was no where to be seen, but was still heard.

"I'm not being a stick in the mud, I just don't wanna go..." The h/c haired girl murmured in a low tone, but that just caused her roommate to groan out loud in annoyance at her.

"That's exactly why you're a stick in the mud!" Maria, in all her blonde glory, opened the closet where Y/n was hiding and stared down at her, "C'mon. It's time to go. Get out the closet"

"No.."

"Get. Out. The. Closet. Now."

"Noooo... Bring someone else with you.."

"This is why you're single, you know? You refuse to go on any double dates with me!"

"I can find love just fine without your double dates, andI don't think the guy you and your hookup are tryna set me up with will be the one."

"And what if he is?"

"Then damn. Screw my life."

"Hm. Yeah. Now get up." Maria grabbed Y/n's wrist and pulled her up to her feet, and out of the closet. The poor girl barely avoided getting brain damage as she was less than an inch away from hitting the wooden shelf above her.

Y/n groaned, resisting Maria's pulling, "C'mon..!! I don't wanna goooo!"

"But I want you to come with me, Y/n!!!" Maria begged, still pulling on the h/c haired girl, "You're my best friend!"

"Setups aren't my thing, Maria!"

"It's not like I'm forcing you to sleep with him! Just one date and you never have to see him again!"

"But why don't you bring someone else?!"

"Because I love you and I wanna spend more time with you!" That moment, Maria loosened her grip on Y/n's hand, causing her to fall on her butt and to hit the closet with her back quite strongly.

Y/n winced, her hand slipping back to soothe the pain, "Ow...! Gah! Fine! I'll come with you!"

Maria crouched down almost immediately to help Y/n, feeling really bad about letting go so suddenly, but she froze in her spot once she heard her say she's coming.

And a dumb grin appeared on her lips.

"Really?! Gosh, I love you!!" 

And without any warning, the blonde jumped straight into her roommate's arms, embracing her tightly.

Maria and Y/n arrived at an elegant restaurant, their entrance marked by the soft clink of glasses and the hum of upscale conversation. 

Maria's eyes sparkled as she took in the opulent decor, her excitement barely contained, eagerly anticipating her date who had captivated her with his charm over the past few weeks. 

Y/n, on the other hand, trailed behind her friend, her mind drifting back to the beautiful stranger she'd encountered just a few days earlier. His name remained a mystery, but the memory of his easy smile and the way he made her feel lingered like a bittersweet echo.

As Maria buzzed with enthusiasm and adjusted her dress, Y/n found herself torn between the present and the lingering impression of a man whose identity remained as elusive as the feelings he had stirred.

The hostess led them to their table, Maria's excitement intensified upon spotting him with her two blue eyes. Her face lit up as she greeted her companion with a warm hug, and they quickly fell into easy conversation, their chemistry undeniable. 

Y/n, however, found herself awkwardly making small talk with her date, a pleasant but somewhat forgettable gentleman.

As the evening unfolded, Maria and her date were absorbed in their own world, laughing and sharing stories. Y/n tried to engage with her date, but her mind kept drifting, and this evening was barely enjoyable for her. 

"Excuse me, I'll go to the washroom.." Y/n murmured, getting up from her seat then lightly dusted her pants, "I won't be long..."

Her date smiled and nodded, "Don't worry, please take your time"

And now, it was time to run off.
