What if life is actually just a game? The Lord of our world would be the creator of the game, and everyone around me just NPC's. Then I would be-

"Haruna!"

My thoughts were interrupted by someone's voice. I opened my eyes and looked up. It's my best friend, Yuki. He smiled at me and took the seat next to me.

"Were you sleeping? Why would you sleep, the day has just begun! You didn't get enough sleep last night, did you?"

It's not even eight in the morning and this idiot already asked me tons of questions. How's he so energetic all the time? I sighed deeply and decided to finally answer him.

"One. No, I wasn't sleeping. Two. You're right, the day has just begun, which is the whole damn reason I'm sleepy. Three. You're also right about this one, I've gotten about four hours of sleep. Now leave me alone."

"Alright, Miss Grumpy." He chuckled. "I'll leave you alone... good luck taking your own notes."

"No, wait!"

"Hmph, too late now." He playfully grinned at me. "Maybe I'll give you my notes if-"

The teacher walked in the classroom and clapped in her hands, silencing the whole class. "Silence! There is an important event I must inform you all about. Has anyone heard about the latest news?" The dignified woman looked around with her pointy nose.

The girl who sat in front of me raised her hand. "It was about a challenge created for the students of the last year of high school, am I right?"

I wasn't surprised she knew about it. Yeji's always up to date. Besides that, she's also very smart. She's never failed a test in her whole life. I'd always been a bit envious of her. Being both good-looking and smart was something I could only achieve in my dreams.

Responding to Yeji, the teacher nodded. "That is correct. A challenge called 'The Ruling Point' has been created for you students. The challenge starts next month. You will be assessed both physically and mentally. If you fail the test... something will happen, so make sure to be prepared."

"What do you exactly mean by 'something will happen'?"

"You did not raise your hand, so I will not answer that question. Besides, I am not allowed to tell you that. The details will be revealed on the first day of the challenge. Anyways, my time here is over. I wish you all success with preparing." She quickly walked out of the classroom.

A challenge? I didn't know what to think of that. It sounded strange to me. "You will be assessed physically and mentally." I wondered what she meant by that. Not knowing what to expect, I decided to just study for next month.

School finished few hours later. When I arrived home, I went to my bedroom. The more I thought about the challenge, the more I was suspicious about it.

What if it ends up killing me? No, of course not. What the hell am I thinking? It must be nothing.

Though, I couldn't help but feel anxious about it.

After some time, my family and I ate dinner. I chose to stay silent about the challenge. If I told them I was feeling nervous about it, they'd probably tell me I'm overreacting. Which might be the truth, but still.

We all continued to eat in silence. When we all finished eating, I went to my room again. I just couldn't get that stupid challenge off my mind. A few minutes later, I heard someone knocking on my door.

"Come in."

It was Haru. He walked into my room and sat on my bed. What was my brother doing here?

"So, uhm... Are you okay?" He asked awkwardly. "I wondered if something had happened since you were so quiet during dinner. You usually yap a lot, you know?"

For a moment, I hesitated to tell him about it. But he asked me what's going on, so why not tell him the truth?

"Well... I don't know if you've heard about the 'The Ruling point', but basically, I'm feeling nervous about it."

"The Ruling point..." He thought for a few seconds. "You mean that challenge for the students in their last year?"

"Yeah. The teacher told us about it today. It's probably nothing, but something just doesn't feel right... I felt like she was being too suspicious about it."

"Hmm... I'm not sure what to think of the challenge, but like you said, it's probably nothing. They surely wouldn't do dangerous stuff to the students, right?"

I hope so.

"Wanna play some video games to distract your thoughts?"

After hours of playing video games, I took a shower and went to sleep.

Let's just study hard. You'll be fine.

Little did I know what kind of disaster awaited me.
