"Goodness, we're safe." I said as I let out a deep breath. Still ignoring his gaze, I quickly let go of Yu's arm. I hope he didn't notice.
I earned a glance of the others. Their eyes kept staring at me, asking my why I'd pushed them into the room like that. "I heard someone coming." I simply responded.
"Wasn't it just Eric or Hyunjae?" Sunwoo asked to which I shrugged. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
I went along the walls, searching for a switch to light up the dark room. There wasn't one to be found, so I gave up and continued to use the flashlight. We searched all the boxes, but they weren't filled with anything other than air. Though, we continued to search until the last box was opened.
"Wait, what's this?" Kyujin held a small hairpin decorated with white pearls. "Actually, I think I recognise this..." She carefully looked at every angle of the hairpin as she thought deeply.
I walked over and searched the box she'd opened. "Look, there's more in it!" I grabbed the stuff I'd found. A necklace, ring and bracelet... Whose could this be?
"Uhm, could I see that necklace?" Yu asked. I handed him the gold-plated necklace. "Isn't this... Taehyun's?"
"Now you've mentioned it..." Kyujin looked shocked and gasped. "I think this hairpin belongs to Minji!" She grabbed the ring from my hand and gasped even louder. "This ring, Yoona has the same one! It must be Taehyun's as well."
Sunwoo frowned. "But why would they keep their jewellery? It couldn't be for the money."
We left him without an answer and only shrugged in response. "No idea."
He sighed. "Well, what should we do now? Do we take the stuff with us?"
"No, let's place it back." I suggested. "What they notice someone took it? I think it's a bit risky." And who knows what they'll do to us if we get caught.
"But on the other hand, someone might know something to do with it. Besides, I think Yoona would want that ring."
I thought for a moment. I guess it'd be nice to give Yoona her boyfriend's jewellery. She should hide it well, though. "Alright," I finally responded, "let's take the necklace and ring to bring it to Yoona."
After putting the boxes on their original place, I walked to the door and reached to grab the door handle. But then I realised, there's no door handle. A slightly panicked feeling rose within me. "Uhm... Does anyone know how to open the door again?"
"I'm not sure," Kyujin said, "how'd we do it last time?"
My hart started beating faster. "Last time, the door didn't close."
"Then why did it close this time?"
"I don't know!" I sat on the ground and hid my face in the palms of my hands.
Being locked up in a storage room wasn't exactly on my bucket list. I'd always hated the suppressed feeling of being trapped. Knowing I wouldn't be able to reach for freedom stressed me out. And now, it was my fault it happened.
I felt fear embracing me. Though, I didn't want to embarrass myself and burden my classmates by having a breakdown. With a lump in my throat, I took a deep breath and mumbled, "I really don't know what to do..."
Kyujin immediately gave me a hug. "Aw, don't worry! We'll get out of here, trust me."
"And if we're stuck in here forever, we'll have each other."
"Sunwoo, what the hell."
"I'm just kidding..."
Seeing the two bicker made me laugh. For minutes, or maybe even hours, we chatted. They started to feel like actual friends, not just some classmates. At that moment, I thought Sunwoo might've been right. I wouldn't mind being stuck with them.
