“Alright, alright jeez I’ll take another shot,” I laughed, eyes already dancing and swimming with the effect of the alcohol as it buzzed through my system. I wasn’t sure how I got sucked into the latest drinking game as we took turns taking cards and shots when we lost. However, having the guys over at mine and Vic’s the night before the next tour called TheStreetYouthRising tour kicked off was turning out to be fun so far. Normally I didn’t drink, but the boys peer pressured me into it a bit and since I knew I could hold my liquor (because let’s face it, I’m French), I took the wager and sat down with Jaime, Ember, Mike, Tony and Vic for a friendly game of Circle of Death. Honestly I was lost in all the rules but when they told me to pick up a card and do certain things, I agreed to them and downed the stinging liquid without question.
But after a little while, I was starting to wonder whether or not they were taking advantage of me.
“Okay okay okay,” Vic said, woozy from the intoxication now flowing through him. His eyes were glassy and his lips were parted and loose. I couldn’t help giggling softly at him though I was probably faring no better. “We need some music, aight? Like we need some tunage.” I nodded in agreement, near in hysterics.
“Dude, dude dude,” Mike replied, just as drunk as the rest of us, “What kind of tunage though man cuz you know, you know what I like ehhhh!”
Tony suddenly stood up and started to walk around the apartment…or more like stumbled around the apartment. I had never seen anyone so bold when they were drunk but Tony was definitely out of his turtle shell with a little bit of alcohol in his system. He only knew what he was doing and that was only a maybe at this point because I wasn’t even sure where he was going. His strides were taking him towards the far window by Vic and mine’s couch, the black pants and ninja turtle shirt making him look more like a drunk child than an adult. The large gages caused his ears to stick out slightly and the glaze over his eyes made him appear extremely sleepy. His tattooed hands reached out to the glass structure and began to slide it open.
I leapt to my feet like a gazelle and rushed as quickly as I could to his side, trying to close the window but he refused to let me. Luckily I was able to keep my balance when he shoved me aside and I was stable enough to laugh aloud as he stuck his head out of the pane. He started to yell at people on the street in one of his ‘ghetto Mexican’ voices.
“Hey, hey you, yeah I’m talking to you ese,” he called in a slurred voice. I was lost to a fit of giggles just as Jaime came up behind Tony and hugged him around the middle. They were an odd couple as they stood there, drunk as skunks while the turtle called down to strangers below. Jaime’s hair was plastered to his face, white shirt emblazoned with some logo on the front. He was grinning stupidly.
“Jaaaimmmeee,” Ember called, her voice thickly slurring as she stood and staggered towards her husband. She wasn’t able to hold her liquor very well and wasn’t in the game at this point but I was almost sure the game was at an end now. Her husband looked back at her, lips still split in an asinine smile before he embraced her and the two fell on the floor in a fit of laughter.
I rolled my eyes and turned back to Vic and Mike, noting that my boyfriend was no longer in the room. His brother was staring absently at the bottles of Jack and tequila that sat empty upon the coffee table we had pulled out for our game. His tank top was a nice distinction against the lightly tanned skin that he and his brother shared. A grey beanie was on top of his greasy hair and a pair of flip flops were suspended between his toes. I walked back to the table and sat down, still amused by Ember, Jaime and Tony’s antics.
“You better treat him right you know,” Mike said, suddenly solemn. I raised a brow.
“Huh?” I replied, too buzzed to fully get his meaning at first. I then blushed when it hit me and I stammered a response to make up for my blasé retort. “I mean…of course I am, why wouldn’t I?”
