Wen Qing trudged through the desolate streets, her feet carrying her away from the only home she had known for years. The Yiling Patriarch's words still echoed in her mind: "You are no longer welcome here. Your deceit and manipulation have consequences, Wen Qing."
She deserved it, she knew. Her actions had been driven by a twisted desire for control and revenge. She had manipulated Wuxian, using his trust against him, and tried to drive a wedge between him and Wangji.
But now, as she walked aimlessly, she realized the futility of her actions. Her child, her precious child, was gone from her. Wuxian had taken them away, and she knew she would never be allowed near them again.
"Ah, my child...my baby..." she whispered, her motherly love screaming in anguish.
She knew she had been wrong, so wrong. But it was too late to fix her mistakes. The consequences of her actions had been severe, and now she was left with nothing but regret and guilt.
"Why did I do it?" she lamented, her voice barely above a whisper. "Why did I let my desire for revenge consume me?"
As she turned a corner, she stumbled upon a small pond. She gazed into the water, seeing her reflection staring back at her. But it was a stranger's face, twisted by regret and sorrow.
"I am lost," she whispered, her voice cracking. "I am burning in my own regret."
Tears streamed down her face as she realized the true extent of her mistakes. She had lost everything: her home, her child, and her self-respect.
"What do I do now?" she asked the empty air, her voice barely audible.
But there was no answer, only the echoes of her own regret.
Wen Qing's stomach growled with hunger, her body weak from lack of food for two days. She approached a passerby, a man with a scruffy beard and worn clothes, and asked for help.
"Excuse me, sir. Could you please assist me? I'm in dire need of food and shelter."
The man looked her up and down, his gaze lingering on her disheveled hair and tattered clothes. A dirty smirk spread across his face, but he nodded nonetheless.
"Follow me."
Wen Qing, too tired to notice the wicked glint in his eye, trailed behind him. They walked through the deserted streets, eventually stopping at an abandoned house on the outskirts of town. The stranger pushed open the creaky door and gestured for Wen Qing to enter.
She stepped inside, her eyes adjusting to the dim light. But as she turned to thank the stranger, she heard the door slam shut behind her. The sound of rusty hinges and scraping wood made her spin around, and her heart sank.
The stranger stood before her, a menacing grin spreading across his face. His eyes gleamed with a psychopathic intensity, and his hand grasped a rusty knife.
"Ahahahah... New prey!" he cackled, his voice echoing off the walls.
Wen Qing's eyes widened in horror as she realized her mistake. She was trapped, alone and defenseless, with a madman. Her mind racing, she frantically searched for an escape route, but the doors and windows were sealed shut.
