It was Evening, Sidharth and Saana both were settled on the Rooftop of Sidharth. Saana was lost in deep thoughts, just then Sidharth passed her a glass of scotch. Taking the glass, she looked at Siddharth . Saana’s voice was filled with urgency as she looked directly at Sidharth.

“Sidharth! Tu shaadi kar! Shree ko maa ki zaroorat hain!”

Her plea was desperate, driven by her deep concern for Shree’s emotional well-being.

Sidharth nodded, understanding the gravity of what Saana was saying.

“I know, Saana. I’ve thought about it, but…”

He hesitated, the fear in his voice evident.

“What if she tortures my child? You know how stepmoms can be.”

Saana’s expression softened as she placed a reassuring hand on his arm.

“Sidharth, not all stepmoms are like that. Yes, we’ve heard stories, but there are many who love their stepchildren as their own. It’s about finding the right person, someone who genuinely cares for Shree and wants to be a loving, supportive mother to her.”

Sidharth sighed, his anxiety still present.

“But how can I be sure, Saana? How do I know she won’t hurt Shree?”

Saana looked into his eyes, her tone gentle yet firm.

“You’ll know, Sidharth. You’ll take your time, observe, and see how she interacts with Shree. You won’t rush into anything. The right person will show you, through her actions, that she’s capable of giving Shree the love and care she needs.”

Sidharth nodded slowly, beginning to feel the weight of his fears lift slightly.

“I want to do what’s best for Shree. I’ll be careful and make sure whoever comes into her life truly loves her.”

Saana smiled softly, sensing his resolve.

“That’s all we can do, Sidharth. Shree deserves a mother’s love, and with the right person, she can have that. We just have to be patient and make sure she gets the best.”

Sidharth took a deep breath, feeling a mix of fear and determination.

“You’re right, Saana. I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Shree gets the love and security she deserves.”

Just then, Sidharth looked at Saana, his eyes filled with a mix of hope and vulnerability.

“Shadi karegi mujhse?”

he asked softly, almost as if the words carried the weight of everything they had shared and lost.

Saana’s heart raced, but instead of joy, a wave of anxiety washed over her. Memories of their past, the pain of their breakup, and the fear of being hurt again all came flooding back. She cared deeply for Sidharth and Shree, but the thought of risking her heart once more was terrifying.

Saana shook her head slowly, her voice trembling as she replied,

“Sidharth, I can’t… We were exes for a reason. I’m scared, scared that if we try this again, history will repeat itself. What if you leave me again? What if it doesn’t work out?”

Sidharth’s expression fell, understanding the depth of her fear.

“Saana, I’m not the same person I was back then. I’ve learned from my mistakes, and I know what I lost. But I understand why you’re scared. I just… I just thought maybe we could find a way to make it work, for Shree, and for us.”

Saana looked away, tears welling in her eyes.

“I want to be there for Shree, and I’ll always be there for her. But I can’t put myself in a situation where I might lose everything again. I’m sorry, Sidharth.”

Sidharth nodded slowly, his heart heavy with the weight of her words.

“I understand, Saana. I don’t want to hurt you again, and I respect your decision. We’ll find another way to give Shree the love and care she needs.”

The room was filled with a heavy silence, both of them processing the reality of the situation. Saana knew she had made the right choice for herself, but it didn’t make it any less painful. Sidharth, on the other hand, felt the sting of rejection, but also the understanding that some wounds take longer to heal.

Despite the tension, there was a shared understanding that their priority would always be Shree’s well-being, even if they couldn’t be together as a couple.

*
Sidharth’s words echoed in Saana’s mind, replaying over and over like a haunting melody she couldn’t escape.

“Shadi karegi mujhse?” The sincerity in his voice, the vulnerability in his eyes—everything about that moment lingered, refusing to let her find peace.

As she tried to push the thoughts away, Shree’s innocent face flashed before her, bringing a fresh wave of emotion. The little girl’s smile, her eyes full of unspoken hope and longing, tugged at Saana’s heart. She knew how much Shree needed a mother’s love, how much she yearned for the security of a family that wouldn’t crumble again.

The more Saana thought about it, the more conflicted she felt. Her fear of repeating the past, of opening herself up to the possibility of heartbreak, clashed with her deep love for Shree and the desire to give her the stable, loving home she deserved.

Saana found herself pacing the room, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts. Could she really walk away from this chance to be there for Shree? Could she bear to see Shree suffer if she didn’t at least try? But then, the fear of being abandoned again by Sidharth loomed large, a dark cloud that overshadowed everything else.

She sighed deeply, sitting down on the edge of her bed, burying her face in her hands. It was a choice between protecting her heart and giving Shree the family she needed. The weight of that decision pressed down on her, leaving her feeling more lost than ever.

Saana was trying to distract herself by focusing on her work, pushing the emotional turmoil to the back of her mind. Just as she was beginning to regain some semblance of control, her phone beeped, pulling her attention away from the screen.

She reached for it, and as the screen lit up, she saw numerous missed calls from Sidharth’s brother. Her heart skipped a beat, a sense of unease settling over her. It wasn’t like him to call so many times unless something was wrong.

Panic started to creep in. Was something wrong with Shree? Had something happened to Sidharth? A thousand scenarios flashed through her mind, each one worse than the last. Her fingers trembled as she unlocked her phone, the notifications piling up adding to her anxiety.

Without hesitating, she dialed back, her heart pounding in her chest as she waited for the call to connect, dreading what she might hear on the other end.
