Authors Note: This chapter in it's full form (around ~1300 words) can be found in the 18+ version of this story on my profile. It is very short without that content. I am addressing issues with the pacing of this book and appreciate your patience. <3

I could stay right here and let him clean and pamper me forever. He rubs the washcloth over my shoulders, kissing on my neck, and then right on the mark, which is so sensitive I tremble when he touches it.

He wouldn't even let me walk to the bathroom, insisting that he carry me instead. He even ran the bath water for us. I find that every moment that I'm with him, those tendrils of moonlight weave deeper into my soul, making us a whole.

I need to get MoonDark from Azora; I won't be able to endure him for an entire heat cycle. And despite how badly I may want it, we don't need pups running around right now. Things are dangerous and uncertain.

"I agree." He murmurs.

"What do you think the King will do about what's happening?" I ask, glancing over my shoulder at him. I have no idea what any of the royals are like, but Payne and Yenna seem to at least be somewhat familiar with them. He doesn't stop scrubbing, just moves lower.

"I don't know, honestly. I think it will depend on what the princess thinks when she gets here. I can see him contacting Soren at some point, maybe not immediately though, not until he's done investigations of his own." He says thoughtfully. No contact would be made to the vampires without making sure it was absolutely necessary first. Vampires with new abilities will certainly draw more unsavory characters craving whatever advantage it may provide.

"Are you worried?" I can't help the question. I am. The thought of going through something as horrible as Glen makes fear set into my bones like ice cold nails.

"Yes." He admits. "I'm worried that whoever is making those things is tapping into magic better left undisturbed."
