"How the fuck did you get arrested again, Rubie?!" My mother yelled at me through the phone.
"Mama.. some bitch- girl.. sorry, I'm sorry mama, some girl in the club was yelling at Amethyst and then she called me out my name and we started fighting."
"Well now thanks to fucking you, I have to call outta work to come bail you out."
"Mama, you don't have to call outta shit! I can call daddy! I was defending my little sister like you raised me to!"

I rolled my eyes, putting the phone on the hook, hanging up on her. I don't have time for my mother's bullshit. All I asked her to do was go to the bank and withdraw a measly $550 for my bail, but she acts like she can't even do that.
She will let Jade's fast ass do whatever she wants without any repercussions but as soon as her older kids need the slightest bit of help, she has everything to say about it.
I pick up the phone again, starting to dial my daddy's number.
"Wilson, that was your one phone call."
"Shut the fuck up, Richard." I side eye the older officer who has been working at this damn jail since I was a teenager, his old ass needs to retire.
He rolled his eyes, grumbling something before going to bother another inmate.
"Hello?"
"Daddy."
"Jasper? What the hell you calling me from jail for?"
"I got into it with this girl at the club." I huffed with my arms folded.
"Damn it girl, why can't you stay outta trouble. You've been giving me and your mother hell since you were a kid." He chuckled a little.
"I know daddy, I'm sorry." I laughed a little.
"It's alright, baby girl. What do you need?"
"Can you go to the bank and withdraw $550 for my bail, please?"
"Now girl, why you ain't call yo mama?"
"I did, daddy, but you know how she is."
He huffed, "Yea I do. That wife of mine has always been something huh?"
