It had been five days since Cassian ordered Joseph to find the woman from the tavern, and yet there were still no results. It was like the lady disappeared into thin air. Where could she possibly be? It was clear that she was a noble, and that she lived somewhere near the city of Zuflucht, so why couldn't Joseph find her? Where had she gone?
Later in the evening, Joseph finally appeared before Cassian and shared the information he gathered. The lady was in Ramil Kingdom now. It made everything worse.
"What is she doing there? Who is she? Did you find that out?"
"I did. Her name is Elena Heroux, she's the daughter of Count Heroux from the East. They own a sapphire mine in Ramil Kingdom, so I suspect the lady and her brother, Edgar, went there because of that," Joseph reported quickly, then placed the documents on Cassian's desk, so he could check everything himself.
'Edgar. Eddie. So that man wasn't the lady's partner, he was her brother,' Cassian thought with relief then took the documents and started reading through them.
Lady Elena Heroux, just who was she? Cassian couldn't wait to meet her and hear her opinion on everything that had happened lately. Her perspective was completely different from his and it opened his eyes to some things. Things he would have never even considered had she not mentioned them.
"Did you find out when lady Heroux will be back from Ramil?"
"Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything. I also couldn't get a hold of their carriage. In order to get to the strait, they should have taken a carriage, but there was no sign of them doing so. Apparently, they left two days ago, and they have already reached the Azul Strait. I only found out where the lady's going from a broker who takes people to the ships. He said the lady's brother came to him to rent the entire port for a few hours, but when asked about a ship and a crew, he said he would get to Ramil on his own. From what the broker said, it appeared that the young count planned on reaching the port in just a day."
"That's preposterous. There's no way to get that far that quickly," Cassian scoffed. Unless the young count changed horses every few hours, there was no way he could get to the port within a day. And even with many horses, it would be impossible, as they could only run so fast with a carriage. Something was off but Cassian didn't know what.
He couldn't have possibly imagined that Edgar and Celosia were riding a motorcycle that was from another world and could reach speed that was unachievable for horses and didn't get tired on the way.
As efficient as it was to ride a motorcycle, it was also uncomfortable, especially for Edgar, who was not used to such means of transportation.
"Are you still in pain, Eddie?" Celosia asked in concern when she saw Edgar groan painfully as he readjusted himself in his seat. He was basically crippled for the first few hours after getting off the bike, and Celosia felt genuinely bad for him. For someone used to riding horses, riding a bike must've been excruciating. At the same time, it was why she didn't want Edgar to join her on her trip and instead asked him for directions. She knew he would suffer throughout the journey.
"How are you perfectly fine after that?" Edgar asked in surprise, shocked to see Celosia driving the 'motorboat' as she called it without an ounce of pain. She rode the same bike as he did, yet she was completely fine while he was struggling to not cry in agony.
"Well, I'm just more used to it. I rode bikes in my previous lives," Celosia shrugged offhandedly, summoning a pain relief patch and handing it to Edgar. "Stick this onto your back, under the shirt."
"What is it?"
"Something to relieve the pain. I know you're really hurting, you don't have to act tough."
