As Jack and the young nun assessed the situation, he quickly realized that he not only had to protect himself but also ensure the safety of his newfound companion. He understood the gravity of the circumstance they were in and knew that their survival depended on working together.
Jack had to navigate his way around the warehouse which felt like a maze, the warehouse was littered with building materials so Jack had used a large scrap metal that was supposed to be a door and used the knob to grip it as a shield and  his pistol in one hand.
Despite the initial shock and fear, Jacks training and determination kicked in. He made a silent promise to himself that he would do whatever it took to keep them both alive.
Jacks plan was to find the loading dock to escape and report back to headquarters however it was easier said than done because he heard voices that were near and he would have to fight his way out.
Back at the sleepy town that kept Dr.Wormsly and Jacks team, Quinn had been keeping a close watch, his intimidation kept people away however he wondered about Jack and seem to be the only one noticing his disappearance.
Alec and Yuri stayed in one corner of the building, Alec had quickly ran back to base empty handed and allowed Jack to do the rest of the exploring however he got bored and went on his computer that he had brung with him in his backpack.
Yuri was watching the flies then decided to see what Alec was watching on the computer, it was a music video featuring two teens composing the most popular song.
Yuri notices the teens and the lead singer, he pointed to the screen "is that Cordero and his brother..?" Alec looked up at him and smiles "yes! I still listen to their music from time to time." Wormsly overheard them in one room and Alec caught his eye "your brothers are so popular why did they give it up for politics?."
Dr.Wormsly sighed "I guess it's the level of maturity...it surprised a lot of people. But for him, it was about wanting to be more mature and ambitious.
It wasn't enough. He loved making music, but he felt that he could do more. He wanted to have a bigger impact on the world, something that music alone couldn't achieve for him."
Alec questioned "when did it all end? And how come your never in the rest of the songs" Alec said. Dr.Wormsly paused he had a quick flashback of Avis giving him a gun and telling him to shoot his middle school bully after Wormsly had broken the bullies arm in a fight. He remembers Avis telling him to kill and in a flash of a bullet everything changed him.
"I don't remember.I was young" Dr. Wormsly finally said almost forgetting what the question was. Yuri took the computer from Alec "we need to find a way to get out of this haunted city" he says. He searched through entries and exits of the town name but all seem to be condemned or blocked off except for a rusty train that leaves every night.
Back at the warehouse Jack had rushed through the warehouse, every corner looking the same and dragging Saskia along with him.Jack had spotted a thug from overhead the giant shelves, the thug had aimed a gun and Jack shielded Saskia and shot at the thug.
The dimly lit warehouse reverberated with the echoes of gunfire. Jack. his senses heightened, moved swiftly and silently through the maze of stacked crates and machinery. His eyes scanned the room, searching for any sign of danger. His mission was to protect the Saskia at all costs.
As he rounded a corner, he spotted a group of armed enemies closing in on them. He glanced at Saskia, who was huddled behind him, eyes wide with fear. "Stay close," he whispered. Two more thugs charged at him. Jack swung the shield, knocking one to the ground, and then used its edge to deflect a knife thrust from the second. He kicked the knife-wielder in the stomach, sending him sprawling.
Jack's eyes caught sight of a grenade on a table across the room. He fought his way over, bashing another thug in the head with the shield as he went. Finally, he grabbed the grenade, pulled the pin, and lobbed it towards a group of thugs gathered near the entrance.
"Get down!" he yelled, diving behind the crates with Saskia.
The explosion rocked the warehouse, shrapnel flying everywhere. The blast took out the remaining thugs, leaving a smoky, debris-filled silence.
Jack stood, helping Saskia to her feet. The warehouse was a mess, but they were safe. He looked around at the destruction and couldn't help but smirk. "It's a good thing no one panicked," he said sarcastically.
Saskia watched in awe as Jack moved with grace and precision, his every move calculated and efficient. As he fought off wave after wave of attackers, she couldn't help but feel a growing admiration for his bravery and skill.
Ducking and weaving through the chaos, Jack managed to shield Saskia from harm, his body acting as a shield against the onslaught. He deftly deflected bullets with the scrap metal and incapacitated enemies with swift, well-placed strikes. His determination to keep her safe was evident in every move he made.
Despite the intensity of the battle, Jack focus never wavered. He remained resolute, his eyes never leaving Saskias trembling form. With each enemy he took down, he moved closer to her, ensuring her safety at every turn while being bounded together.
As the last enemy fell to the ground defeated, Jack finally had a chance to catch his breath "there's so many" Saskia exclaimed
"Trust me Wolf has a whole clown car" Jack responded. He turned to the girl, a mix of exhaustion and relief on his face, he looked at her bruised wrist from the cuffs and frowned then he saw another attempting to come after Saskia from behind, he threw a knife and he fell to the ground.
Jack had noticed Saskia had blood on her face that wasn't hers and he wiped it for her,Their eyes met, and in that moment, a connection sparked between them.
Saskia in awe of Jacks bravery and strength, felt her heart race. She couldn't help but feel a deep admiration and gratitude towards him. In that warehouse, amidst the chaos and danger, a seed of forbidden love had been planted.
As Jack made his way through the warehouse and it's infinite shelves and crates and shooting at anything that moved he remembered what Wolf had said about a serum he had stolen, if anything the serum would be here tucked away In a room somewhere
The chain of the cuffs that bind Jack and Saskia was six feet long giving Jack space to attack others and be somewhat flexible however Jack needed to find a way to get rid of them.As they reached the loading docks there were more guards and Jack had to result in hiding somewhere, he also didn't want to leave without the serum.
He told Saskia to take cover and Jack had a grenade ready so he launched it causing a huge explosion on the loading dock and diversion plan. He then switched routes, ditching the shield and went to the managers office which was locked, as Jack tried to pry open the rusty door and was getting frustrated, Saskia shoved her shoulder as hard as she can and rammed open the door causing it to topple.Jack amazed at Saskias hidden strength.
Just as he figured bags and bags of scientific documents that were once stolen from Dr. Wormsly were relocated here.
he looked at which one had the serum and spotted it among the mess in a messenger bag, there was an array of keys on a wall as well as a small one that caught Jacks attention. He swiftly yanked it off and started jabbing at the cuff lock and popped it open for himself, leaving the chain at Saskia.
Jack motioned Saskia to help him grab the bag and make a run for it however Wolf had caught on to them.
Before Jack could react, Wolf lunged at him with the ferocity of his namesake. They crashed to the ground, Wolf's hands closing around Jack's throat, squeezing with brutal strength. Jack's vision blurred as he struggled for air, his fingers clawing at Wolf's arms in a desperate attempt to break free.
"Jack!" Saskia screamed, frozen in fear. She watched in horror as Jack's face turned red, then purple, under Wolf's relentless grip. "Run, Saskia!" Jack shouted, his voice hoarse but commanding. He kicked and thrashed free from Wolf then grabbed Saskias hand, pulling her along as they made a desperate dash for the exit.
Wolf was quick to recover, snarling with rage as he gave chase. Jack and Saskia sprinted through the narrow alleyways, the sound of Wolf's heavy footsteps pounding behind them. They turned a corner and Jack spotted a stack of crates blocking a side passage.
Without hesitation, he pushed Saskia ahead and toppled the crates, creating a makeshift barricade. Now Saskia taking the lead she frantically made her way out of the exploded dock as Jack clutched onto the bag containing the elixir.
As the two were running Jack could hear distant vehicle engines approaching, he didn't want to cause anymore trouble because he had a delicate serum and a girl stuck to him, he yanked on Saskia and made her dove near a fragmented wall and let the armoured vehicles pass them.
In hiding Jack peeked over to see any trace then he glared back at Saskia and held her chin "you didn't listen" he scolds her reminding her why they got chained together, Saskias expression sadden overall she still thinks Carrots death was unjust and the whole encounter with Wolf made her think that Jack knows something she doesn't.
"What if that guy that said about the scientist was true." Saskia had asked Jack
Jack examined the bag once more and decided not to question Dr.Wormslys work just then a faller had grabbed Saskias shoulder in an attempt to eliminate her but just as he grabbed her his head had exploded into shards, a bullet had passed through his head but it wasn't Jack.
Jack could see Quinn standing in the distance pointing a gun at the dead man then at Saskia "there you are" Quinn says as he lowers his eyes at Jack.
Quinn grabs the chain and motions them toget up and move "on your feet Everygreen." Jack was happy to see Quinn but Quinn looked annoyed that he had to look for Jack himself and then fish him out of a perilous situation with a nun he's chained to. "How did you find me?" Jack had said to Quinn generally curious, without looking back at Jack Quinn said "I figured the only destructive explosion was caused by you so I followed the noise."
Jack was confused, was he calling him reckless? "Take your AR next time, I don't know how you made it with a pistol and knife" Quinn had told Jack, now he was criticising him and Jack groaned, Quinn wouldn't let him explain what happened or what he found until he was done scolding.
Back at Jacks team everyone questioned what happened but Wormsly who was standing at a distance but he had his suspicions on Saskia and approached Jack and questioned Jack on everything about Saskia, Wormsly hadn't realised he was being hostile and Jack had to reassure him that Saskia was not a threat.
Jack had explained that they found his missing elixir and Dr.Wormsly was thrilled and hugged Jack, Jack felt proud and heroic however the enemy was still all around the town and Yuri suggested that they find the exit quicker by train.
Jack turns to Saskia who felt disarranged "this is my crew-and this is Alec. We're part of the Cordero super soldier program, tasked with eliminating terrorists and evacuating civilians from dangerous areas."
Alec chimed in: "Yeah, and we're planning to get out of this town soon.We think you should come with us. You could have a peaceful life if we escape together."
"A peaceful life sounds amazing, but... I don't know. It's a big decision."
Jack notices her round face, adorned with a soft blush that hinted at a touch of shyness. It possessed an innocent charm that made him yearn to protect and cherish her "I understand. It's a lot to take in. But we can protect you, and you'll be safe with us...with me" he says.
She explained that the town was hosting a gathering this evening and despite everything she doesn't want to miss it.
"A church service? In the middle of all this chaos?" Quinn uttered
"Yes, it's important to me. It's a chance to say goodbye properly. Will you come with me?"
"If it means that much to you, then of course we'll go.Right, Alec?" Jack says motioning towards Alec.
"Absolutely. We'll go with you. Just promise you'll consider our offer."
On the town square the small amount of citizens partied and drank wine, the nuns served food and the children decorated while the lambs pranced.
Jack and Saskia found themselves awkwardly sitting on rickety chairs, monitoring the lively party. Alec, in contrast, was mingling with the crowd, enjoying himself immensely. Jack glanced down at his cup of juice, where a small insect had drowned. He sighed, pushing the cup aside.
The silence between them stretched, but then Saskia suddenly spoke up. "Thank you for saving me" she said shyly, her voice barely audible over the music and chatter.
his eyes were drawn to her presence as if by an irresistible force. As he noticed her, time seemed to slow down, and his gaze fixated on her with an intensity that he couldn't explain. The sunlight cascaded gently upon her cream long wavy hair, lending it an ethereal glow that captivated him. Each strand seemed to dance to its own melody, creating an enchanting aura around her.
Jack perked up, sensing an opportunity. He looked at her, a soft smile forming on his lips.
"It was nothing I couldn't handle...but I couldn't help but notice those big blue eyes of yours, they're like crystal pools that I could get lost in for days. They hold a world of mystery and enchantment."
Saskia giggles and forms a delighted smile "thank you! That's very sweet of you to say, I never had such compliment before."
Jack notices her tattered veil and fixes it for her "Maybe in another universe, right?" he said, trying to sound casual yet hinting at something more.
Saskia turned to look at him, her eyes filled with a mix of gratitude and something deeper. "Thank you, Jack. But as much as I like to think there is another universe, this is all we have. And you're all I've got. I'm eternally grateful for that."
Jack's heart skipped a beat at her words. He reached out, gently taking her hand. "Well, then, let's make this universe count," he said, his voice warm and sincere.
They move towards the makeshift dance floor, surrounded by the onlookers. The music swells, and they find themselves in each other's arms, swaying to the enchanting melody. As they dance, their steps synchronize effortlessly, as if they were made to dance together. The world around them fades away, leaving only the two of them in a blissful moment of connection.
Jack could see from the corner of his eyes a hooded man approaching the community board. the man brought a paper and stabbed it with a knife letting it hang on the board, Jack could make out what the paper was and recognised the knife.
It was the same knife he threw at a thug in the warehouse and the paper read 'Jack Evergreen wanted for bounty'.
