The church had become their stage, and their impromptu band had created a memory that would forever be etched in their hearts.
With newfound confidence, Dr. Wormsly thanked his friends for pushing him out of his comfort zone and allowing him to fulfill his dream of being part of a band, even if it was just for a brief moment.
The experience had taught him the encouragement, and the importance of embracing one's passions, no matter how shy or uncertain one may feel.
As the party continued, the party danced, laughed, and reveled in the joyous atmosphere. The music filled the air, and the group of friends felt a sense of camaraderie and celebration like never before.
However, amidst the merriment, an unexpected turn of events unfolded.
As the party progressed till night, Dr. Wormsly watched Jack strum a few chords on the guitar while talking to Saskia. An unsettling wave of dizziness and fatigue washed over him as he stared down at his cup of water and watched his wavy expression.
At first, he dismissed it as exhaustion from the exhilarating performance and the long day of exploration. But as the symptoms persisted and intensified, he realized something was seriously wrong.
Worried about alarming his friends, Dr. Wormsly decided to quietly slip away from the party, hoping some fresh air would alleviate his discomfort. Without a word to anyone, he made his way to the exit of the church, his steps unsteady and his mind consumed with concern.
Little did Dr. Wormsly know that a sinister figure had been watching his every move from the shadows. As he walked alone through the dimly lit streets, he couldn't shake the feeling of being followed. His heart raced, and a sense of unease settled deep within him.
Suddenly, from the darkness, a group of masked individuals emerged, surrounding Dr. Wormsly and blocking his path. Fear coursed through his veins as he realized he had fallen into a trap.
Before he could react, he was forcefully grabbed and restrained, unable to defend himself against the unexpected assault.
"Who are you? What do you want?" Dr. Wormsly demanded, his voice trembling with fear.
One of the masked figures stepped forward, their voice cold and menacing. "Your serum, Dr. Wormsly. We know about it, and we want it."
Panic surged through him as he struggled against their grip. "I don't have it with me! Please, let me go!"
Ignoring his pleas, the abductors tightened their hold and swiftly dragged him into a waiting van. The vehicle sped off into the night, leaving no trace of Dr. Wormsly behind.
Back at the church, the party continued, blissfully unaware of the harrowing turn of events. Jack noticed Dr. Wormsly's absence and frowned, glancing around the room.
"Have you seen Dr. Wormsly?" he asked Quinn and Alec, who were chatting nearby examining some of Alecs paintings.
Quinn shook his head. "Nah, I haven't seen him in a while. Maybe dissociating somewhere."
Jack and his friends continued to party and laughed, oblivious to the fact that one of their own had vanished into the night, leaving behind a void that would soon be discovered.
As the night drew to a close, Jack,Alec,Yuri and Quinn bid farewell to Saskia, their hearts filled with happiness and contentment.
The night air grew colder, and the streets became eerily silent as Dr. Wormsly fate hung in the balance.
Jack had noticed that Wormsly was no longer there and wondered if he went back to headquarters on his own however as he went back his office was dark and empty just how he left.
On the day of their scheduled meeting, Jack arrived at Dr. Wormsly's laboratory, ready to assume his duties. However, to his surprise, the scientist was still nowhere to be found, his coffee and apples cold on the desk. Concern etched across his face, Jack hurriedly searched the premises, hoping to find any sign of Dr. Wormsly's presence.
"Dr. Wormsly?" Jack called out, his voice echoing through the empty halls. Yet, all he discovered were empty rooms and abandoned equipment. A sense of unease began to cloud Jack's mind as he contemplated the possible scenarios.
Could Dr. Wormsly have left without informing anyone? Or worse, had he been kidnapped? The latter possibility fueled his worry, as he knew the importance of Dr. Wormsly's groundbreaking research and the potential dangers it posed in the wrong hands.
Jack's mind raced with questions. How could he have let this happen? How could he have failed in his duty to protect Dr. Wormsly? Determined to find answers, he quickly contacted the authorities to report the disappearance, providing them with every detail he could recall.
"Detective Bear speaking," answered the gruff voice on the other end of the line.
"Detective, this is Jack Evergreen. I work with Dr. Wormsly. He's gone missing, and I fear he may have been kidnapped," Jack said, his voice urgent.
"Calm down, Mr. Evergreen. Tell me exactly what happened," Detective bear instructed.
Jack took a deep breath and recounted the events leading up to his discovery of Dr. Wormsly's disappearance. "I arrived at the lab this morning for our scheduled meeting, but he wasn't here. His coffee and apples were untouched, and the entire place feels abandoned. Dr. Wormsly would never leave without telling anyone. Something's wrong."
"Did you notice anything unusual recently? Any threats or suspicious behavior?" the detective asked.
"Well, there was an incident at a party a few nights ago. I think Dr. Wormsly felt a balance disorder and left early, but I didn't think much of it at the time. Now, I'm worried it might be connected," Jack explained.
"We'll send a team to the lab immediately," Detective bear said. "In the meantime, stay put and don't touch anything. We need to preserve any evidence that might help us find him."
Jack nodded, even though the detective couldn't see him. "Understood. I'll wait here."
As Jack ended the call, his thoughts returned to the party. Had there been any signs he missed? Any suspicious figures lurking in the background? He replayed the events in his mind, searching for clues.
Mr.Cordero's anger was palpable as he confronted Jack about the disappearance of Dr. Wormsly. Standing in the Oval Office, Jack felt the weight of the president's disappointment bearing down on him.
"You were entrusted with the safety of one of our most valuable assets, and yet he has vanished without a trace," the president seethed, his voice laced with frustration. "Explain to me, Mr.Evergreen, how this could have happened under your watch."
Jacks heart sank as he struggled to find the right words to justify his actions. He knew that the president had every right to be furious, as the nation's security and the future of scientific advancements were at stake.
"Sir, I understand your anger and disappointment," Jack replied, his voice filled with remorse. "I take full responsibility for the disappearance of Dr. Wormsly. However, I assure you that I have been tirelessly working alongside the authorities to locate him and bring him back safely."
The president's stern gaze bore into Jack, searching for any signs of incompetence or negligence. Jack maintained his composure, determined to convey his unwavering commitment to rectify the situation.
"I have personally been involved in the investigation, following every lead and exhausting all resources available to me." Jack continued, his voice unwavering. " understand the importance of Dr.Wormsly research and the potential risks it poses. Rest assured, I will not rest until he is found and the responsible parties are held accountable."
Corderos anger seemed to momentarily subside, replaced by a flicker of understanding. He took a deep breath, his expression softening slightly.
"Mr. Evergreen, I appreciate your dedication and willingness to rectify this situation," the president said, his tone less accusatory. "But I want results, and I want them fast. The nation is counting on us to bring Dr. Wormsly back safely and ensure the protection of his research.!"
Jack nodded, fully aware of the immense pressure resting on his shoulders. He understood the urgency of the situation and the need for swift and decisive action.
"Mr. Cordero, I assure you that I will not rest until Dr. Wormsly is found," Jack vowed, his voice filled with reassurance. "I will mobilize all available resources, work closely with the authorities, and leave no stone unturned in our search. We will bring him back, sir."
Corderos gaze lingered on Jack for a moment longer before he nodded, acknowledging his commitment. "Very well, Mr. Evergreen.I expect regular updates on the progress of the investigation. Do not disappoint me again.
With a firm nod, Jack left the Oval Office, his mind racing with the weight of the task at hand. The president's anger still echoed in his ears, but he knew that he had to channel it into action. Driven by a renewed sense of purpose, he vowed to redouble his efforts and bring Dr. Wormsly back home, no matter the cost.
As the investigation unfolded, Jack concern only deepened. He delved into the scientist's work, trying to understand the nature of his research and the potential motives behind his possible abduction. The more he discovered, the more he realized the magnitude of the situation.
Days turned into weeks, and still, there was no sign of Dr. Wormsly. Jack tirelessly worked alongside the authorities, following every lead and leaving no stone unturned. His dedication to finding him grew stronger with each passing day, driven by a deep sense of responsibility for his safety.
Jack knew that finding Dr. Wormsly was a race against time, and he couldn't do it alone. With the weight of the president's anger still fresh in his mind, he turned to his trusted friends and even Saskia for assistance. Together, they formed a small team dedicated to uncovering any leads that could lead them to the missing scientist.
After hours of tireless investigation, the detectives team finally stumbled upon a clue that pointed to a potential location and had send it over to Jacks team.
The note pointed it to Alaska,It was a handwritten note found at the scene where Dr. Wormsly had last been seen. The note contained a cryptic message and a demand for ransom.
The note read: "Bring the serum to the coordinates 64.2008° N, 149.4937° W. No police. No tricks. You have 72 hours."
Excitement and urgency filled the air as the team gathered to decipher the message and formulate a plan. They knew that time was of the essence, and every moment wasted could mean a step further away from finding Dr. Wormsly.
Jack spread a map of Alaska on the table. "These coordinates point to a remote area in central Alaska. We need to get there as soon as possible."
Alec frowned. "I don't know guys this sounds like a trap...but what about the serum? We don't have it."
Jack nodded. "We'll have to fake it. We can't risk giving them the real serum. They might use it for something catastrophic."
Quinn looked worried. "What if they realize it's a fake? It could put Dr. Wormsly in even more danger."
Saskia, always the voice of reason, spoke up. "You need to be prepared for anything. You should bring backup, just in case."
Jack agreed. "I'll contact the authorities and explain the situation. We'll need their support, but we'll have to keep it discreet. The kidnappers can't know we're onto them."
As they finalized their plan, Jack's phone buzzed with a message. It was from Detective Larson. "We're tracking the note's origin. It looks like it came from a location near the coordinates. We might be able to intercept them."
Jack's heart raced. "This is it. Let's move."
"Good luck out there" Saskia sighed.
