Princess (Y/N) wakes up to the warm sun beaming through her window, its rays piercing through the thin curtains and into her eyes. (Y/N) blinks groggily, her eyelids feeling heavier than usual after a restless night of thought. She sits up slowly, rubbing her eyes, and notices a maid entering her room with a breakfast tray. It isn't Clara, as she already knew it would be. Claras test is today, she thought to herself silently. It felt different that it wasn't Clara

An older maid, Madeline, sets the tray on the edge of the bed, "Breakfast, princess. From the King and Queen." She says, bowing before turning towards the exit, leaving and closing the door gently behind her, like it had been left before she entered. (Y/N) glances at the tray, analyzing the plate and cup filled with (y/n's breakfast drink of choice), and a folded note on thick paper on the tray beside them. Her fingers reaching for it, recognizing her parents' handwriting on the outside "To dearest," written in cursive letters, she opens the note. The note reads:

"Take some time to think about our discussion yesterday. We hope this helps. - Mother and Father"

Beside the note are several gold coins. (Y/N) frowns, feeling a mix of frustration and sadness. It feels wrong that her parents are trying to bribe her, but she knows that, bribery or not, she has no choice in their decision, she thinks to herself, fiddling the coins in between her fingers, the sunlight bouncing off of them as she did. She sighs, setting the note aside on the nightstand, placing the coins atop of it, and eats her breakfast in silence.

After finishing her meal, she gets dressed on her own, and pulls the map out from her nightstand. She dressed in something light, something easy for travel. It felt odd to get dressed on her own, pulling and tying the cinched dresses strings from behind her back. It felt different Clara not being there.

She looks out the glass door to her balcony, knowing this will be the last time she gazes at the border without knowing what really lies beyond it. Without another thought, she set on down the castle corridors and towards the stone wall, on foot.

The journey seems is long, at least without a horse, but the anticipation keeps her going. Her stomach flutters with a mix of excitement and nerves as she eventually approaches the wall in a small secluded area, to avoid being seen. Her fingers drag along the stone as she walks along the wall, thinking that this is really it. This is really the moment. Analyzing the wall, seeing how much taller shes gotten since the last time she was even near the wall, on that day she looked over it with Clara.

She takes out the map and studies it one last time for clarity, before tucking it into her pocket on her dress.

Her hands grip the stone, feeling the roughness against her bare palms as she pushes her weight up against them, pushing her in an upwards motion, over the wall, sliding back down onto the other forbidden side. Her heart pounding now, looking down at her shoes seeing them planted into the grass officially on the other side of the wall. This was finally it, she began walking.

The forest is dense and alive with the sounds of nature. More than she had ever heard in her populated kingdom, other than the farm animals. She walks slowly, taking in everything around her. The thick brush and trees, and different varieties of flowers, some she has never seen. Despite their bloom, the air felt cold, the slight chill hitting up again (Y/N)'s exposed arms. It was often a colder climate in Lythoria, and assumed in Artymidian, it wouldn't be much different. Given, it was north of her home, and more elevated.

Eventually after a while of walking, trying to free up her mind of the worries back at home, (Y/N) comes across a lake. Thirsty from her journey, she bends down and cups her hands to drink the cool, refreshing water, the water touching her hand, sending cold chills up her body. The water ran clear, rocks, fish and greenery visible through the surface. Her reflection staring back at her through the water. The lake is beautiful.
