Alia and I were finally at Hakim's basketball tournament. Hakim was undoubtedly a very good player. He's the team's captain.

He shot another shoot into the basketball net and it went straight in. And that's all it took to make the crowd go wild, including the principal. They all started clapping and cheering him and the team on. He looks over at where I was sitting and shot me a wink. I smiled.

Almost everyone from our school is here except for one person, and that's Dua lipa. Even her father the principal is here.

"Ooooh I saw that." Alia said winking playfully at me and nudging my shoulder. "You saw what?" I asked her having zero idea of what she's talking about. "Don't act puzzled now cause you know dang well what the hell I'm talking about." She said so confidently, as if I was supposed to know what's going on in her damn mind.

She must have seen the confused state I was in because of the kind of face I was making and proceeded to say, "Girl you think I didn't see the way Hakim winked at you?" She said all excited.

"Yes, and?" I asked, because I do not like where this conversation is going at all. "Girl he likes you, can't you seeee." She chimed. "Alia please stop. We're here to watch a game so let's just do that please." I told her calmly not sounding rude.

"Yikes, you're no fun Dia. Boring." She rolled her eyes and sipped on the soda she was holding. My phone pinged, indicating either a text message or something else. I unlocked my phone to check what the notification was about, and it turned out to be a text, and it's from Dua.

Dua:
I feel sick

The text reads. I was taken aback by her choice of words. What does she mean by that. Is it because I came for the game? Seriously, she's so confusing. Or is she just doing all this so I could go back to talking to her?

"What got you so serious all of a sudden huh?" Alia asked almost startling me, i swear she's going to be the reason for my death someday. She scoots over to my seat, getting way too close to me and tried peeking into my phone, but I quickly put it off so she couldn't see.

I glared at her, "what? I also wanted to see what you were watching." She says, as if peeking into someone's phone is the most normal thing any human being could do.

"It's nothing. Now push back to your seat." I tried to be as calm as possible because I was actually starting to lose my cool. She scoffs in annoyance and continued to watch the game.

My phone pinged again. It's her again.

Dua:
I said I feel sick dia
or r u dyslexic?

Me:
Wut do u mean?

I replied back because I have no clue on what she meant by her being 'sick'. Last time I checked, she was perfectly fine so what does she mean by she's sick?

Dua:
I mean I'm sick
so u need to come.

Me:
I don't believe you

Dua:
u don't have to.
just come n see for urself

Something tells me that she's lying. So I refuse to enter her trap.

Me:
I can't.
The game is still on
It would be mean to
just up n leave like that
Seen

I sigh in relief thinking that she has finally come to her senses, but oh so I thought.

Dua:
what if I die?

My eyes went wide. Why the heck is she talking about death all of a sudden? Did she freaking lose her mind or something.

Me:
Dua please stop talking
about death

Dua:
then come

Me:
alright
Seen

I looked over at Alia that seemed to be so invested in the game. Clapping and cheering. She looked so happy. How do I tell her this? I don't want her to feel bad and ruin her mood.

"Umm Ali," I drew her attention to me, she replied, "Yes?" Giving me her full attention. "I need to head back to the dorms." I told her, mentally preparing myself of what to come.

"Why, what happened?" She questioned. "Dua just messaged me that she's ill." I explained. "So, are you a doctor now?" She asks with a hint of sarcasm, also sounded upset. "Why can't she call her father or something?" She continues further. "There's no way you're leaving me here all alone Dia." She sounded disappointed.

My face softens at what she said but I had no choice. I was stranded. I have to go see Dua, what if she's really sick? I needed to go see for myself or I'll never forgive myself if anything happens to her because of my negligence.

"The game is almost done Alia, it's only 13 minutes remaining." I reasoned. "Dua's my responsibility and I can't sit here and enjoy myself while she's in pain, right? I promise I'll make it up to you, please try and understand." I pleaded, making a puppy eyes face to her. Cause i know she'll never say no to that face. I don't want her to feel bad and start thinking that I don't value our friendship because I really do. She's my ride or die.

She lets out an exhausted sigh and rolled her eyes in defeat, "fineee, but what do you expect me to tell Hakim if he asks about you?" She asks. "I don't know, figure it out." I said standing up and rushing out of the college's arena. It was so crowdy.
