Nylana Herondale did not appreciate being woken up by Jace.

She didn't like to be disturbed once she'd fallen asleep because she saw it as a sign of attack. It made her feel sick and worried...a feeling she could do without with everything that was going on. Even so, Jace had no apologies.

So, there she was, sat with a yawn as Clary explained that Magnus Bane had something to do with everything. Nyla didn't say anything about knowing him, though the shadowhunters knew she did, because she wanted to know what they knew about him without her help.

Ashton kept kicking her leg to keep her awake, earning himself a glare everytime he did so.

"Magnus Bane. He's over 300 years old. And, as you can see, he's not exactly shied away from the pleasures of every century. His tastes are both exquisite... and quite excessive," Hodge explained, placing a picture onto the screen.

"He looks like the Downworld's David Guetta," Clary joked.

"Guetta's already a Downworlder. Vampire? Ever seen him in the daylight?" Ashton replied.

"Can you two focus? This is not a joke," Alec ordered.

"Someone needs to gets slayed," Isabelle teased.

"Alec's right. Now, Magnus is one of the most powerful warlocks I've ever known. He has a deep mistrust of Shadowhunters...apart form one," Hodge began.

"Who? My mom?" Clary interrupted.

"No. Nyla," Hodge nodded towards the girl.

Clary stared at Nyla, who yawned.

"What makes you so special?" Clary asked, but not in an unkind way.

"Part warlock, remember?" Nyla shined her warlock eyes. "Magnus and I have a close friendship."

"Well then why did he help my mom remove my memories? Isn't she a Shadowhunter?" Clary asked confused.

"Yes, one of the best. But 'help' might not be the most accurate word." Nyla supplied. "More than likely, your mother paid Magnus handsomely for his magic. Most tend to."

"Warlocks usually require payment before they help anyone with anything." Jace added.

"Can't blame them, it's a lot of effort," Nyla hummed.

"Is it really?"

"Is to me," Nyla smirked.

"Word from the Clave is that most of the warlocks have gone into hiding since Valentine began hunting them." Alec said seriously. "Valentine must be searching for the Warlock, where did Jocelyn—"
