Shadows lurk
where light shan't reach
Echoes of silent cry
louder than any speech

Sophie came from a loving, well-off family, had great friends, great beauty and attended a prestigious school—yet, she was always envious and never satisfied. When her friend Matt got a new iPhone, Sophie demanded one too, but her parents refused, saying her current phone was still good. Furious, she accused them of not caring and wished for wealthier parents like her friends'. She began belittling Matt and Giselle, using their insecurity about their appearances, hurting their feelings while feeling justified in her actions. Her parents, concerned, watched helplessly as Sophie struggled with her ungratefulness and envy, unaware of the harm she was causing.

One night while she was asleep, God decided to have a talk with her. "Who are you? Why do you seem all omnipotent?" Sophie asked. "My child, I am God. I am here to have a small talk with you-" "Listen dude, why do you hate me so much? Why you are ruining my dreams with a little 'talk' when you never cared to fix my life. You have given me such a horrendous life. It hurts me. Why me?" Sophie interrupted and yelled out loud. God sighed and looked at her with a gentle smile. "My child, let's just take a small walk." He then took her down a street where she could see kids crying over their parents' corpses, people dying of starvation and parents crying over their stillborn children. "Do you see them, those left helpless through such pain?" "Yes, but why are causing pain to all of them? Don't you see how hurt they all look. How can you be so selfish? Aren't you God? Why can't you help them instead of calling them helpless?" Sophie questioned.

Children on the street,
none to call home
Starving souls lay
mouth bleeding white foam

"If I create every human being to have same happiness and same sorrow. I cannot bestow upon you all any purposes. These people here, they have potential, but no means to use that potential for good. Hence I made few people who are truly satisfied with means and hence can help such people. People like you. However, you keep cribbing over problems you create by yourself instead of looking after those who have real, harsh problems in life. Did I make a mistake in creating you? Was I too foolish to believe in you?" God asked. Sophie bowed down unable to meet his eyes as she felt guilty for being the way she was.

She woke up pondering about what God said. Realising that she was sent as a angel to help others instead she was cribbing over no real problems, she was worse than Satan. From then on she made sure to keep that in mind and was grateful for her life and made sure to give others a better life too. Her answer for this sudden change, "I saw what a real problem is. I realised what my true purpose is."

Oh God! Realisation struck me late
