KAIA HAD BARELY slept that night. she was overthinking all night, she felt sick with guilt. things with her and belly were still tense and she knew kissing steven was wrong, he was with shayla, and even though she hadn't planned for it to happen, she kissed him back

kaia sat in her bed, scrolling on her phone mindlessly when she heard a soft knock on her door, "kaia, it's me"

it was belly's voice, kaia sighed before she spoke, "come in"

belly walked in. she looked nervous, brushing a piece of hair behind her ear as she sat down next to kaia on the bed

for a moment, neither of them spoke. they just looked at each other in silence.

belly finally spoke up, "kaia.. i really am so sorry" she paused and then shook her head, "i was upset and being completely hypocritical. it wasn't fair to take that out on you"

kaia felt a bit of relief at hearing that, but she knew she needed to apologize too. her mistakes were a big reason they were all in this mess "it's okay belly, but im sorry too"

she hesitated, then looked at belly. "i mean, i shouldnt have kissed him and i definitely shouldn't have lashed out like that, you didn't deserve that"

belly's eyes searched hers, "kaia, do you have feelings for steven?"

kaia opened her mouth as if to speak, but then shut it, "i-" she paused, "yeah, i do belly"

belly raised her eyebrows, clearly surprised, "and... how long have you had something for him?"

kaia gave a small smile, almost embarrassed. "since... forever, as long as i can remember"

"why didn't you tell me?" belly asked, her voice soft. "i told you how i felt about your brother, you know i'd be supportive of you"

kaia looked down at her hands, "i really wanted to but i didn't know how, i was scared of how you would feel or react"

belly put her hand on kaia's back, "well, apparently not great"

the duo chuckled before belly spoke again, "but seriously, i am sorry and im okay if you.. y'know you wanna try something with steven" she paused, "i mean, like, i don't really know why you'd pick him.." she said, causing kaia to laugh "but.. i'm okay with it"

kaia nodded, "thank you, bells"

belly smiled and they hugged, "did you talk to steven?" kaia asked

"yeah, we made up already"

kaia just nodded and then belly got up, "love you kaia" she paused, "oh by the way, can i just.. steal one of your dresses for today?"

kaia chuckled, "yes belly, of course! you'd look great in that red one right there" kaia pointed to one already hanging on her closet door, it was a red gingham dress with little sleeves that had ties on them "andd i love you too" kaia smiled
