I'll Save You (Mikey x Reader)

Episode 43: Rise Against

As soon as we arrived at the hospital, we were sent to the morgue. Emma had died several minutes before we had arrived. Nothing would've been able to save her.

    I looked down at the girl, who was covered by a white blanket, on the table.

    "I'm so sorry, Emma," I cried. "I should've killed that Kisaki bastard while I had the chance. The number of fun times and sleepovers he's robbed us of. I swear, I'll protect Mikey. Just as you asked."

    After bowing, I left the room.

    Once the door closed behind me, I was met with a panicked looking Draken.

    "Emma. Where is she?"

    Unable to scrounge up any more words, I pointed to the door behind me. He went in alongside Takemichi, while I took a seat next to Mikey.

    The blonde was slumped against the wall in despair. He couldn't bring himself to go see Emma. Wrapping my arms around him, I pulled his head into the crook of my neck.

    I know I can't help ease the pain of the loss of his sister, but I can at least be there for him.

    Takemichi exited the room, giving Draken time alone with Emma. He looked like he was about to say something to Mikey, leading me to shake my head. Now isn't the time. Luckily, he understood, staying silent and sitting on the bench.

Though, that wasn't the same case for the other boy.

    "Draken..." Takemichi stood up, with a worried look on his face.

    "Mikey, come outside for a minute."

    Without saying a word, the blonde stood up, following his friend outside.

    Of course, Takemichi and I followed as well.

    "What happened?" Draken calmly asked.

    "..."

    "How did this happen?"

    The tattooed boy walked even closer to Mikey, punching him in the face.

    "You were there, so how did this happen? Hey... Mikey." Draken's fist tightened as he began to yell. "What the hell were you doing, you piece of shit?!"

    "Draken, stop this!" I shouted.

    Takemichi got onto his hands and knees, bowing so his head touched the ground. "It was my fault! I was closest to her, but I failed to protect her! It's not Mikey's fault! It's my fault!" He slightly raised his head. "If you're going to blame anyone, blame me!"

    "I'm to blame, too." More tears flowed out of my (e/c) eyes. "We ran into Izana Kurokawa at Shinichiro's grave. Mikey told us to get Emma away from there."

    "No, he left you and Emma in my care!" Takemichi argued. "So, you're hitting the wrong guy when you hit Mikey."

    Draken didn't care, as he punched my boyfriend again, before taking him by the collar of his uniform. "I thought you made Toman so you could protect all of us!" He landed several more punches, as Mikey just took it.

    "Draken, stop it!"

    Both Takemichi and I tried to pull the big guy back but failed miserably.

    "Pah got arrested!"

    "What are you talking about, Draken?" I tried to pull on his arm, but that wasn't enough, as he still punched Mikey. I don't understand. Pah was arrested for stabbing Osanai. There's nothing he could've done to stop that.

    "And Baji died! Kazutora got arrested too!"

    The two of us watched as Toman's commander was knocked to the ground "Mikey!"

    "Get off!" Draken elbowed Takemichi in the face, while flinging me off of his arm. "And now Emma..." Draken was the only one left standing, as the rest of us laid on the ground. I was faced up, so I could see the tears falling from his eyes. "Even Emma..."

    "Get a hold... of yourself... Draken," Takemichi panted. "The Draken I know... The Draken I know has it in him... to overcome this and accept what's happened."

    Like he's one to talk. At least he could go back to save Hinata. We don't have the luxury of that.

-Back Inside of the Morgue-

    I sat beside Mikey, who had just regained consciousness, keeping a hand on his back.

    Takemichi stood in front of us. "Mikey... I realize... it's inconsiderate to talk about this now... But today's our showdown with Tenjiku. Without your orders, Mikey, we can't make our move. Mikey... The one who killed Emma was... Kisaki." Now is definitely not the time for this. "Knowing him, he's done something cunning to make sure he doesn't get caught. I'll fight Tenjiku even if I have to do it alone."

    He left. Sometimes, I wonder to myself. Why do I still fight? Is it so I remember my father's teachings, or is it because I don't want to be left behind? Maybe that's the question which'll lead me to quit Toman in the future.
