Chapter 3
"Ouch," I cried as I burnt myself on Briana's hair straightener once again. As i attempt to tame the wild man of what I call my hair. Once I had finished I took some hair slides and clipped back my bangs to the side like I saw the girls do at school. I apply another coat of mascara and stare at my reflection in the mirror. It's gonna take a lot more than hair and makeup to win these girls over as so called friends. Well at least for now. I scan my closet for an outfit which is some what fashionable. Then I realise my wardrobe is a perfect example of someone who absolutely no fashion sense. As you can tell I'm the your average sweat pants and t-shirt kinda girl. I slump down onto a nearby box and start to feel sorry for myself. Until a new wave of realisation rushes over me. "Meghan," I jump to my feet and glance at the clock as I rush out the room. 7:45, just enough time to get ready and rush off to school. Briana's bound to have some of Meghan's old clothes here considering she can't take all of them off to University with her. From what I remember of the endless stories about Briana's daughter is that she's a real fashionista. Which for once is the best news I've heard all day.
By the time I had confronted Briana and was led to the stash of clothes Meghan still had here, I was fully clothed and accessorised. It was time to leave for school. "Sorry no time for breakfast today dad," I called as I put on a hooded leather jacket over top of my pink tank top and mini skirt topped off with some junky jewellery and some black converse. "Not bad for a girl with no style," I said to myself smiling at my reflection. Just as I was about to leave Briana burst out of her office. She owns her own real estate business so she normally works from home. "Oh Sydney darling, I have the painter coming for your room today. Did you want the lavender or that ghastly orange colour you seemed to like?" Briana asked.
"The orange," I replied smiling.
"That's what I feared you would say. But wouldn't you rather the lavender? It would look so much sweeter. Oh well, I guess its your decision." said Briana mumbling off a bit. But by that time I was already out the door and on my way to school.
My phone beeped as I walked along my street. I pulled it out of my pocket and glanced down to see who it was from. "Typical," I muttered to myself. Daniel had sent me a txt apologizing already! He can't even put up with one small fight. I thought to myself. Too late now though, the war had only just begun.
"Hey," I said approaching shakily to Taylor and her gang of friends. The kind of girls who you didn't want to get on the bad side of. They were sprawled out bags everywhere over the field, giving me uninviting glares. "Do you want something?" one of them mumbled. Could this be anymore embarrassing? I could feel the harsh comments running through their minds, Not exactly my choice of friends but I guess I'm only doing this to prove to daniel I have friends and well these seemed like the girls to prove him wrong with. Why am I even doing this? I could have chosen anyone. But I had to choose the most popular girls in school. Why do I even care what thus guy thinks about me?! It's not like I even really know him or anything. I only met him yesterday. Well I guess I do need some friends anyway right? I swallowed my fear and managed to croak out a sentence. "Can I sit with you guys?" I felt like throwing up. They all exchanged looks and there was a life threatening pause until one of the girls with long golden hair turned and smiled at me.
Authors note:
hehe cliffhanger! well sorta :) Anyways just in case you guys got a bit confused Briana is Sydney's dad's fiancee and Meghan is her daughter because she was married before that but then got divorced. Oh and in case you didn't pick it up Meghan is like 19 and is at university so that's why she hasn't been in the story yet. so yeah. Oh and Sydney's plan is to make friends with these girls to prove Daniel wrong about her not having friends. And she thought it would be even better if she could be friends with the 'popular girls'.
Not sure when I will update next because I haven't written much further then this so i'll have to keep writing! :)
