"Are you sure you want to go there?" Harry asked as he looked at Charlie doubtfully.
"The doc said it's one of the best in the UK so why not?" Charlie asked and glanced from Harry to Dr. Gibbs, over to Louis who was silent the whole time.
"But it's so far, we won't be able to visit you every day." Harry frowned.
"You don't have to, papa. I'm gonna be fine and I'm gonna be even more happy to see you every weekend." Charlie smiled.
"Only every weekend? Why don't you just leave the country right away?" Harry gasped.
"Dad, can you say something?" Charlie whined.
Louis sat up and waited until Harry looked at him, he knew he was expecting him to be on his side. "H, the most important thing now is for Charlie to get better and if he wants to go there we shouldn't keep him from doing it just because it's a little further away. It's only five weeks after all."
They were currently in the hospital for Charlie's examination and during a break until his next test they discussed where he should go to rehab. Harry thought the Isokinetic London was a good sports clinic where he could recover, but one of the best facilities was 'The Rehab Borough' in Hayes which was further away- and it was the one Charlie wanted to go.
He was on a great way of healing and Dr. Gibbs was impressed by his process so he had decided to start with a few easy exercises for Charlie to start moving again for as long as he wasn't in pain. He knew it was a long way until he could properly move again, but every step was a big one and he was excited to try it, yet a bit scared of what he had to expect.
"Okay. Okay, fine, you're right. It's your decision and we will support you no matter what." Harry smiled at his son in reassurance, pushing away the terrible feeling of having to be so far away from him.
"Thanks, papa." Charlie smiled.
By the time they were home and Charlie was in bed it was seven in the evening and the kids were hungry. When they walked down the stairs Harry turned to go to the kitchen while Louis approached the hallway to leave, but Ruby stopped him who came out of the living room from occupying Ivy and Georgie.
"Hey dad, are you leaving already?" She wondered.
"Uh, yes. You guys should have dinner and I have yet to go grocery shopping." Louis said with a smile, but Ruby just frowned.
"Why're you not eating with us?"
She didn't understand it as hard as she tried. One second her dads were immersed in conversation, even laughing together and the next there was icy silence. She got that they were in a difficult situation right now, but she couldn't get into her head how they couldn't spend a simple dinner together- at least sometimes, because some days it worked out well enough.
Louis sighed. "Because it's late and the kids need to be in bed soon. It's the only time of the day where your papa can have all of you around him together so don't question it, go to the dining room and set the table, yeah?"
"I don't get it." Ruby frowned.
"You don't have to, darling." Louis chuckled lightly.
"I miss you." Ruby murmured when Louis tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear and kissed her head. "Can we do something together tomorrow?"
"What do you have in mind?" Louis wondered.
"Minigolf?" Ruby suggested, making Louis laugh.
"Sure. But ask papa first okay?" He said, but Ruby groaned.
"Since when is papa deciding everything?" She muttered annoyed.
"Ruby." Louis sighed. "Since you are living with him and I made mistakes that deprive me of the right to make decisions."
