Chapter 11

Max’s POV

“I want my mummy!”

I looked down at the little girl crying in front of me. I was given the painful task of guarding her while all the members of the council, including the Queen, were having one of their monthly meetings.

Picking up the sobbing Eve, who kept hitting my chest with her tiny fists, I walked down the long halls of the Blake Castle.

It was quite dark in the castle since the drapes were pulled shut, which was probably the reason why Eve was so scared. The poor girl was shaking with fear as well as crying her eyes out. No matter what I said or did she wouldn’t stop crying, but at least she did stop hitting me.

I made a left at the end of the hall, deciding to take Eve to my room where she might feel more comfortable.

“I want my mummy,” she whispered. My heart went out to the kid; I mean come on it was a bit harsh for the Queen to take away Lana’s daughter.

Sighing, I opened the door to my room and closed it behind me, turning on the lights as I did.

“Did you know that I’m friends with your mummy?” I asked, putting her on the bed and kneeling on the floor so I could be at the same level as her.

The crying stopped the minute I finished my sentence. She wiped her cheeks with the backs of her tiny fingers and crawled closer to the edge of the bed, “You do?” she asked.

I smiled, “Yeah, were great friends actually,” Not true, we weren’t even friends but I’d say anything to get her to stop crying for a while.

“Will you take me to my mummy?” The poor girl looked so hopeful, and that’s why I lied.

“I don’t have to because your mummy is going to come and get you herself,” Okay, not totally a lie because I know Lana pretty well to say that the minute she finds out her daughter has been taken by the council, she will come get her.

Her eyes’ lit up, “Kay.” She crawled to the middle of my bed and sat down, looking around my room with curious eyes.

There was nothing much to talk about with a five year old, the silence was as awkward as a first date, so I was thankful for the knock on my door.

Giving Eve a small smile, I stood up and sniffed the air to check who it was. This of course made Eve giggle.

“That’s what mummy does!” she continued to giggle.

I have to give it to her- she was actually pretty amusing for a five year old.

Sniffing the air once more- at the same time making Eve giggle harder- I opened the door and looked at the floor.

Because staring straight into the Queen’s eyes is the last thing you would probably ever do.

“Your Majesty.”

This was the first time I had seen the Queen in months and she had not changed a bit. She still looked like a forty year old when she was probably at least seventy, she still had almost white blond hair that came to her shoulders, and still wore fancy suits that consisted of a skirt and blazer.

Cassandra Blake was the most important wolf alive. If it weren’t for her then there would be no order in the werewolf society today. Of course it’s not her we only have to thank for that, but all the other King’s and Queen’s from her line.
