Rage. Hopelessness. Those were the only things I remember feeling when I looked at the bomb in front of me, I was beaten and tied down by a man only known as The Joker... I wasn't alone though, there was a man named Philly Barton tied up next me, a judge, one that sent the Joker to Arkham intended for a long time. He was the fifth man the Joker had tried to kill in an act of revenge in the last two weeks. Last weeks...

No One's POV
Location: An Apartment Building In Crime Alley, Chicago, Illinois
Date: March 7th, 2010, 1:28 AM
Y/N's Age: 16

Batman, or more commonly referred to as "The Dark Knight" was at a crime scene in an apartment near Crime Alley, Bats wasn't a slouch at this point, he's been doing this for about 6 years now, all he had to do was find some evidence. He walked into an empty apartment and immediately knew who was responsible, but everyone who could see the giant, freakish and unnatural grin could immediately tell you it was the work of the Clown Prince of Crime. No sign of a break in, maybe a disguise like the one who used last year against Barbara, the detective thought to himself before looking up to find a giant "⅕" spray painted with green spray paint, a tactic that Joker and Harley used before to clue the Batfamily of their plans, they seemed to love the thrill of the chase

Batman turned to his left to see the Commissioner, Jim Gordon walked up to him and get close enough so only they can hear what he has to say, "what do you have?" Jim asks, before Bats replies, "best guess, Joker has 4 more targets on his list, what can you tell me about the victim?" he asks

"His name is Jack Ledger, went by the name Alby, some street thug, the kicker though? He was in Joker's gang and testified against him" Jim states causing Batman to take a second to think before speaking

"Oracle, I need a list of everyone that was involved in Joker's trial from last year" he states into his radio that attached to his right ear

"Already on it Bats" a voice that only Batman can hear states, "I have 13 people that could be potential victims, including the Gordons, the judge, a couple of officers that helped arrest him and some more former gang members" She states as Batman gives Commissioner Gordon a nod signaling that he's heading out to look for more info

We cut to Batman jumping from the roof to the ground below and starts walking towards his world famous Batmobile until he hears something, sounds almost like some metal wrenches coming from the other side of the Batmobile. As he gets closer the sound gets louder and he walks to the other side of the vehicle and sees a young man, no older than 16, trying to take the wheels off the Batmobile. Batman, with cape completely covering his body clears his throat and speaks in a deep, somewhat gravelly voice, "I don't know whether to think you're dumb or gutsy kid" the voice causes the kid to look to his right and in fear as he notices the Batman

The kid begins to stumble in fear from seeing a 6-foot 2 man in a black cloak with bat ears and white, soulless eyes looking at him, and as the Batman takes one step closer the kid speaks up, "I-I'm sorry Mr. Batman, I really am!" he states with fear in his voice only for Batman to reply

"Thanks for keeping an eye on it kid," he says as he hops in from the opened roof of the car, "and stay out of trouble" the roof closes and the engine starts before Batman drives off

5 Minutes Later
Y/N's POV

Batman, I just tried to steal the wheels off his car, and he just didn't seem to care much. I've seen him many times before but never in person, on the news they talk about how he saves people. People may think he's a hero but he's soft, I mean, that guy in the apartment would be alive if Batman didn't hold back, if he just stopped the Joker, permanently.

As I walk away back to the Crime Alley Shelter, that me and the rest of the kids repurposed into our home, I can't stop thinking about the Joker, that smiling scumbag, I would love to beat him till he bleeds dry, for everything he has done to me and the Crime Alley Kids, one explosion, a lot of death, and he wasn't even Joker yet, just some Red Hooded thug, I thought to myself.

I walk into the old, abandoned shelter and immediately see the crew, 13 kids, including me, well, not kids anymore but we will always be known as the Crime Alley Kids after the explosion, there was Rachel, Victor, Edward, Desmond, Aiden, Clara, Nicky, Darcy, her brother Lucas, Cal, Brain and Mia.

We all lost our parents 13 years ago to what became known as the Boston Bombings, I was only 3 when it happened, 4th oldest behind Rachel, Aiden, Darcy and Lucas. I noticed something weird with all of them though, they all had an unusual smile on their faces

"Uh guys" I say, "um why the smiles" I ask

Aiden was the first to speak up, "we got you some gifts" he explains only for me to look confused, "just look into the box" he says while moving away revealing an open box that I look into

A gun, a simple handgun but still a gun, obviously stolen and there's 3 spare magazines of ammo as well, I pick up the gun and look at Aiden, "do I want to know how you got this?" I ask with the only response being a shaking head saying no from Aiden, "then at least tell me why" I say

"Self-defense dummy" Darcy snarkly states and as I look at her, she just continues by stating, "it is Chicago after all"

"I got you something too" I hear the voice of the youngest of the group Mia, I turn around and see her holding up an old rusty crowbar

I put the gun back in the box for now and take the crowbar from Mia, "thank you Mia" I say with a smile, more my style to be honest

I then decided to put the crowbar in the box with the gun and close the box, but before I could pick it up, I heard the voice of Lucas ask me a question, "by the way, where were you?"

"I was trying to make some money" I calmly state

"Boosting wheels again?" Cal asks

"One day you're going to try it on the wrong car and end up dead" Clara then speaks

"It's fine, I won't do anything stupid" I say, knowing that it's a lie as I already did something stupid and got away with it

"Of course not, you're Mr. Todd, the best of the Crime Alley Kids, as some would say" Clara states

"You. You're the only person who says that" Aiden states as I slowly walk back and head to my room on the 2nd and top floor of the building

As I enter my room, I set the box down and open it back up, drawn to the gun itself for some reason, I think to myself, what I would do to get a chance to use this on Joker, as I hold the gun up, I get a sparkle in my eye
