Chapter 9
Two Months LaterTwo months had passed by, and Gina and Kehlani had barely spoken to each other. Gina didn't really click well with the other girls at the club, and now that it was clear her and Kehlani weren't on speaking terms, she didn't have anyone to turn to.
Reflecting on what she said, Gina couldn't make up her mind if she actually wanted to explore more of what they could be, but there was no in-between since they crossed that line, and it was clear Kehlani wanted to be more than friends. Lately, Kehlani found any opportunity to leave, and half the time, she would just sit in her truck.
The longest they've ever gone without talking, and it was only a matter of time before their silence broke. That time apart, Gina found herself rekindling things with Cash, and she would regret that. The more Gina and Kehlani didn't speak, the more she worried about them growing apart after 18 years of friendship.
"Gina?" Cash came into the room, knocking her out of her thoughts.
"Yes?"
"I made dinner, come on."
Gina looked around. "And since when did you start learning how to cook?"
"Well, you're not here long enough for me to show my skills." Cash walked over to the bed, picking her up bridal style, kissing her neck. Gina had been staying with him for a little over a week now. He didn't know the real reason as to why Gina showed up; he was just happy that they were back together, he didn't care.
Though Gina never mentioned or said anything about getting back together, Cash's delusions had already set in. After eating the dinner Cash made—Gina thought it was chewy, overcooked, and seasoned, but she pretended to enjoy it for the sake of his feelings.
She scrolled on her phone, going back and forth from Twitter to Instagram while on IG, stalked Kehlani's story, seeing she was partying at some club, and of course, Niko and his friends were behind her. Suddenly, she wanted to go and convinced Cash to tag along, though he wasn't going to let her leave by herself regardless.
After realizing they were at Déjà Vu's, she wasted no time coming through.
"Go order some drinks," she suggested to Cash, while she went and got the closest section next to Kehlani's. Cash came back with two drinks of dark liquor.
The pulsing lights and heavy bass reverberated through her chest, but her eyes were locked on one person—Kehlani. Cash returned with the drinks, grinning like a fool as he handed her a glass. She took it absentmindedly, her eyes still on Kehlani, who hadn't noticed her yet. But Niko did. Gina quickly looked away.
"Hey Cinn, you working tonight?" a bottle girl asked passing by calling Gina by her stage name.
"Hell fucking no" Cash answered. The girl mugged him walking away.
"Cash don't start-"
"I dont even know why were here we could've went to any other club— you dont get tired of being here?!" he protested taking a sip from his glass. Gina rolled her eyes, taking another glancing over at Kehlani.
Kehlani was laughing, her arm slung over Niko's shoulder, looking as carefree as Gina had ever seen her, dancing and rapping along to the songs playing with Niko and his friends. Cash took notice of who Gina was staring at and scoffed.
"So that's why you wanted to come tonight..." he slammed his glass down "To watch this bitch?!" He said in a louder tone getting upset.
"Nah we leaving right now" he grabbed her arm walking forward.
Kehlani overheard him, she snapped her neck in their direction immediately getting irritated that it was no one other than Cash, talking crazy to Gina. Still feeling protective of her Kehlani wasted no time to confront him. Niko followed behind in hopes to descalate whatever was about to go down.
