Chapter 13
Continued

"You're under arrest for the murder of Rashad Hendricks. You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to an attorney, and if you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you. If you waive these rights and talk to us, anything you say may be used against you in court."

"What? I didn't do shit!" she yelled out as he put her hands behind her back, cuffing them. Gina didn't say anything, her face was emotionless like she was frozen in time.

"I-I'll be right behind you," Gina said lowly, feeling sick to her stomach about what she had just heard.

She ran into her bedroom changing into a jogger suit. "Shit! Shit! Shit!" Gina was such in a frantic mood, that she couldn't focus on where she last put her keys.

She took a step back, taking a deep breath, running her hand through her curls, remembering she left them hanging on the key hook. Getting into her car, Gina felt an immense amount of guilt. She already knew Cash was dead from the messages she deleted before taking that trip to Mexico.

In the room, they held Kehlani in were two detectives asking questions about where she was and who she was with, but knowing Kehlani, she wasn't giving any answers. She didn't need to because she knew she was innocent.

Showing her pictures of the crime scene some of which consisted of Cash's dead body his face almost unrecognizable with all the knots and gashes he endured. Kehlani showed no emotion to the images being tossed in front of her.

Not really caring that he was dead.  Cash didn't mean anything to Kehlani and she also did not like how he treated Gina so him being dead didn't have much of an impact on her.

"Do you remember where you were the night this took place?"

"I already told ya'll my ass was at home," Kehlani said through gritted teeth her cuffed hands slamming down on the table.

They both got up and exited the room. Moments later Gina came in. The silence between them was loud.

"Did you tell them anything" Gina whispered.

"There was nothing to tell and why are you whispering?"

Gina nodded, sitting down. She didn't want to say too much in case someone had ears on their conversation. "You'll be fine. They can't keep you here without any evidence," Gina reassured, and she was right. They didn't have any proof of the claims they were accusing Kehlani of.

"Yeah, I guess, but they have a witness. Some old ass lady made a statement claiming she saw me outside of his house about a week ago." Gina felt uneasy.

"Oh. What did she say?"

Kehlani sighed, trying to remember what the lady said word for word.

"I don't know," Kehlani shrugged before continuing. "She said she saw someone with long black hair, tattoos, light skin."

"That could literally be anyone," Gina remarked.

"Yeah, but not just anyone would fit the description. Just my luck."

There were other factors to consider, like the fact that they never liked each other, the threats, and Cash's friends who were in everybody's ear about Kehlani when they found him on his bedroom floor, naked and beaten to death.

A detective came in, releasing Kehlani out of custody, though it seemed like the end was just the beginning, leaving the building Gina and Kehlani were both met by his two closest friends.

"Yeah, we got yo faggot ass now!"

Kehlani scrunched up her face her eyes becoming more slender as she looked in their direction.
