A part of them

A/n: sensitive topic ahead!

After two weeks-

.

In the weeks that followed, Y/n’s health began to deteriorate, though she couldn’t quite pinpoint why. It started subtly at first like waves of nausea that would hit her at odd times, leaving her lightheaded and disoriented.

She thought it was stress, the tension of everything was probably fucking up her body.

But as the days turned into weeks, the symptoms only worsened. Her energy levels plummeted, leaving her feeling exhausted even after a full night’s sleep.

She started to notice a persistent ache in her lower back and abdomen, a dull pain that seemed to come and go without any clear cause.

Her appetite decreased, and food often left a sour taste in her mouth, and she found herself skipping meals more often than not.

Despite the growing discomfort, Y/n pushed through, refusing to show any sign of weakness.

She couldn’t afford to slow down, not with Stan’s threats  and Ben’s suspicions.

But the pain was becoming harder to ignore. There were moments when she had to excuse herself from meetings, retreating to the bathroom to splash cold water on her face, trying to shake off the dizziness.

Her emotions too, were becoming harder to control. The smallest things would set her off, leaving her feeling frustrated or on the verge of tears, emotions she wasn’t used to.

She tried to hide it from Ben, but she knew he noticed. His eyes would focus on her longer than usual, filled with both concern and suspicion, though he rarely talked about it.

Then there were the fainting spells, short, terrifying moments where the world would spin around her, and she’d have to grab onto something to steady herself.

She managed to keep these incidents hidden, but it was becoming clear, even to herself, that something was seriously wrong.

.

One evening, after a particularly tough day, Y/n collapsed onto her bed, as her entire body ached. She could feel the nausea in her stomach, but this time, it was accompanied by a sharper pain that made her wince.

She curled up on her side, trying to breathe through it,and  her mind raced with possibilities, and  none of which made sense.

It wasn’t until a few days later, after another wave of nausea sent her rushing to the bathroom, and a terrifying thought crossed her mind.

Could she be pregnant?

The idea was so out of left field that it took her a moment to even consider it seriously. But as she stared at herself in the bathroom mirror, the realisation hit her hard.

She was late,by weeks. The signs had been there all along, but she had been too caught up in everything else to notice.

Now, as she placed a hand on her stomach, she was scared.

She had no idea what to do or how to tell Ben,especially not now, with everything going on.

She sat on the edge of her bed,and her hands trembled as she gently placed them over her stomach.

The room around her seemed to blur,  as she tried to process the thought that had taken root in her mind.

Her breathing was shallow, and her heart pounded in her chest as she struggled to make sense of it all.

Could it really be true? She had dismissed the signs, attributing them to stress and exhaustion, but now the possibility stood before her, and it was impossible to ignore.
