"He loves me, he loves me not," You murmured to yourself, plucking petals off a daisy one by one while sitting in the school garden.
Your eyes wandered over to Taehyung, who was leaning against a tree with his friends, laughing about something you couldn't hear.
He was always surrounded by people, always the center of attention.
"Why do you even care about him?" your best friend, Mia, asked, nudging you with an elbow.
You sighed, dropping the flower. "I don't know, Mia. There's just something about him. I feel like there's more to him than what meets the eye."
"Well, good luck with that," Mia replied, rolling her eyes. "I just don't want to see you get hurt."
The bell rang, signaling the end of the free period.
You gathered your stuff, said your goodbyes, and made your way to your next class, excited by the fact that you shared it with Taehyung.
As you entered the classroom, you noticed him already seated, his eyes fixed on something outside the window. You took her usual seat in the back, hoping he'd talk to you today.
The teacher started the lesson, but you found it hard to concentrate.
Your thoughts kept drifting back to Taehyung.
How is he so handsome? Did he get a nose job? Does he really care about his studies?
You glanced at him and caught him looking your way for a split second before he quickly turned his gaze back to the window.
After class was over you quickly packed your things to meet up with Mia in the halls.
As you put your computer away you saw Taehyung coming closer and before you knew it, he dropped a paper on your desk and walked out the class.
You hurriedly opened it to see—his number?
It was now lunch time.
You walked in and the cafeteria buzzed with activity as students lined up for their meals.
After waiting in line for what felt like ages, you finally reached the front. The cafeteria lady, with her hair net and kind smile, handed you your tray.
You scanned the room, looking for a spot where you could eat in peace. Eventually, you spotted Mia and made your way over, weaving through the maze of tables and chairs, then sat down with a sigh of relief.
"Mia you won't believe what just happened!"
You suddenly felt her nudge your leg and looked at her, confused, to see her looking at someone.
You turned your head to see Taehyung standing in front of you two.
To your surprise, he just raised his hand and made a subtle gesture, signing for you to call him later.
You nodded, barely able to contain your excitement. Your heart pounded in your chest, and a rush of warmth spread through you.
As he walked back to his table, you watched him go, your face bright red.
"What just happened?" Mia asked, her mouth. wide open with shock.
"I don't even know..."
"Do you have his number?"
"Yeah, he gave it to me last period."
"HE DID WHATTT!?"
"MIA!" you whisper-shouted, covering her mouth with your hand.
Her eyes widened, and you could feel the warmth of her breath against your palm.
"Mia, you have to keep it down," you hissed, slowly removing your hand from her mouth.
"Sorry, but this is huge!" Mia whispered excitedly, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. "What did he say when he gave you his number?"
"He just handed me a piece of paper and walked away," you replied, your heart racing at the memory.
Mia's grin widened. "That's definitely a sign! You have to text him."
"I don't know, Mia. What if he was just being nice?"
"Trust me, he wasn't just being nice. You have to do it. Call him."
You glanced over at Taehyung, who was now chatting with a friend.
"I can't do it now, I'll do it after school."
"If you say so."
The rest of the lunch period passed in a blur. You could hardly taste your food, your mind was too preoccupied with thoughts of Taehyung.
The way his eyes had met yours, the way his smile had seemed to hold a secret just for you—it all played over and over in your head.
You wondered what he wanted to talk about, what he would say when you called him. The possibilities were endless, and each one seemed more thrilling than the last.
As the bell rang, signaling the end of lunch, you gathered your things and made your way to your next class.
The hallways were crowded with students, but you felt like you were walking on air.
Throughout the afternoon, you found it hard to concentrate. Your thoughts kept drifting back to the moment in the cafeteria, replaying it like a favorite song.
You imagined different scenarios, different conversations, each one more exciting than the last.
The anticipation was almost unbearable. It was a feeling you wanted to hold on to, to savor for as long as possible.
Finally, the school day came to an end. When you got home, you went straight to your room, closing the door behind you.
You sat on your bed, your phone in your hand, and took a deep breath.
This was it—the moment you had been waiting for all day.
You dialed Taehyung's number, your fingers trembling slightly as you pressed each button.
The phone rang once, twice, and then you heard his voice on the other end. It was warm and familiar, and it sent a thrill down your spine.
"Hello?" he said, and you could hear the smile in his voice.
"Hi, Taehyung," you replied, your own voice a little shaky. "It's me."
There was a brief pause, and then he said, "I'm glad you called."
