Chapter 5

Rather than the usual routine they've curated that consisted of searching all available land in Mondstadt, the group of travelers headed for a certain location in the city instead. It was a specific area that gave away missions of exterminating the abundance of monsters that had begun plaguing certain spots.

"Bounties?" [Name] mumbled out the peculiar job they were going to be taking today.

"Yeah! Sometimes the mobs end up in places where they're not supposed to be and people send out bounties to have them exterminated! Having them be around an area with lots of people could cause tons of injuries so we do them every week! We only take a handful though since the Knights of Favonious usually take care of the rest." Paimon explained easily, her voice high-pitched in excitement now that she was able to put her expert knowledge of Teyvat to good use once more.

[Name] hummed in understanding as they kept walking down a certain path before twisting to a more secluded corner. They passed by the tavern, one they briefly entered in the past to ask around for his missing friends, before walking down a flight of stairs.

One of the Knights stood in position by a bulletin board that had a few requests pinned on it for easy access. Aether gave the man a small wave which was responded with the formal salute the Knights of Favonious did in greeting.

"Oh~ These look interesting!" Paimon pointed out as she eyed a poster that displayed a Mitachurl. Aether and [Name] paid her no mind as they too gazed at the possible bounties they could take. Both of them knew in their mind they could take any of the mobs alone, still unaware of each other's skills in battle, so neither really cared for what type of enemy it was.

Despite this, they still checked for weaknesses and immunities before showing the guard their picks for the week.

"This should be enough to get us to Liyue," Aether informed briefly as they began heading over to the main gate of Mondstadt. Paimon also eyed the posters in the blonde's hands as she examined the rewards from each one.

"Might I take a closer look as well?" [Name] asked once he saw that neither of them was looking at the paper anymore. While he could've looked over Aether's shoulders like Paimon did earlier, he had deemed it a bit too inappropriate and held himself back.

Soon enough, the papers were neatly handed over to his hands and he grasped them carefully. The mobs here were quite different compared to the ones in the other worlds, causing a spark of interest to sizzle within him.

They held interesting features, especially the hilichurl varieties. He's seen a handful of them during their exploration and briefly wondered how they came to be. It felt like there were endless of them as they lived all over Teyvat in small colonies, with almost village-like huts. They also seemed to partake in certain behaviors like dancing, worship, and other things.

His brows held a small furrow as he thought of how unnervingly human-like the hilichurls were. [Name] kept walking absentmindedly as he let his thought process go wild. He didn't seem to notice his companions stopping as he accidentally bumped into Aether's back.

The blonde startled for a split second before turning around as though the instinct was to make sure he was alright. [Name] waved off the concern as he stared at them questioningly, wondering why they stopped.

"The location for the first bounty is a bit far so we'll have to walk a long way..." Aether muttered, eyeing [Name] cautiously. The vidyadhara merely tilted his head at that, not entirely understanding what the point was. 

"That's fine by me," He shrugged with crossed arms. 

Aether merely gave a stiff nod as they began passing by the bridge over the long river circling around Mondstadt's main city. Before they could head in a certain direction, [Name] couldn't help but eye the blue-looking structure near them. Something seemed to spark within him as he suddenly remembered.
