My friends and I had raided my closet and were down to two different outfits for tonight. Taehyung had asked me a million times for more context on tonight's date but unfortunately Yoongi had stopped answering after that one voice message which meant I still had no idea what was planned for tonight. I kept on listening to the voice message over and over, obsessing over each word Yoongi had spoken until I could say it by heart.
"I still think it's too much of a day outfit"
"It's still sunny outside, Tae" Hoseok snapped back.
"You asked for my opinion!" the other retaliated. As I watched my two friends barking at each other I thanked God I was so happy to know I was seeing Yoongi tonight to actually care.
After a while the outfit was finally picked, black trousers, black dressy shoes, a dark navy long sleeved shirt and a leather jacket to give the outfit a more casual look. Looking at myself in the mirror I felt satisfied with the look and couldn't stop smiling.
"He's going to go crazy when he sees you" I looked at Taehyung and nodded my head, focusing my stare back at the mirror. "Has he texted back?"
"No idea. Can you check, please?" As I waited for my friend to answer, I wondered if Yoongi was going to be cancelling at the last minute and if I had enough savings to buy a plane ticket to Greenland in order to escape the shame of ever having to look at my friends again. But a squeal made my heart race as I turned around to look a Taehyung.
"He finally answered!!!"
"Well, what did he say???" Jungkook shrieked as he threw a pillow to his boyfriend's head.
"He said, don't worry about all that, I'll pick you up at seven"
"What time is it?" I had been so busy with my friends I had lost track of time, but I knew seven couldn't be far away
"It's six thirty" Jungkook answered.
"Well thank god we started early... Kind of late to reply..."
I agreed with Hoseok, but I was so giddy that I couldn't bring myself to care about Yoongi's replying schedule.
Seeing how Yoongi wouldn't be long to show up at my door, I rushed my friends to the curb after promising them details once I got back home.
The twenty minutes wait period had me shaking and looking through the window like a creepy stalker until his black Mercedes pulled up. I instantly asked myself if I should wait for him at the door or meet him at his car but when my dad asked me who was there outside I quickly made my choice.
"Just the friend I'm going to dinner with! Got to go, bye!" I opened the door and rushed out, finding myself face to face with Yoongi half way to his car.
"You know, it's polite to wait for your date to pick you up at your front door"
"Trust me, you don't want to get to my front door" I chuckle and turn him around, sneaking my hand around his arm.
"Why? Because of your father?" We both looked behind us and saw my dad looking through the window.
"Let's just say he's not your biggest fan as a potential boyfriend of mine. You're fine as Namjoon's roomie though" I got in the car through the door Yoongi opened for me as I watched him smile and shake his head at my previous statement.
As we drove to a restaurant somewhere in town, I focused on the chill music through the speakers as well as the overall moment. I wanted to engrave this instant in my head forever, the night sky and cold breeze, Yoongi's chill driving engulfed by the moody music, it was all perfect and by the time we arrived, I was no longer shaking or checking my phone in order to pretend I had something to do. I was officially, in the moment.
If I had to sum up the past hour with Yoongi, I'd say magical. It was my first time connecting with someone in that way, it was like he had been made just for me. The conversation was never boring and never stopping, we would playfully fight trough our words with sarcasm and jabs all the while holding hands across the table, Yoongi occasionally passing his hand through my hair with the most adorable look on his face.
"Come on~" I whine and look at him.
"Forget it, Jimin. I asked you out, I'm buying" he waved over a waiter. I watched with a smile as the waiter told him the bill had already been taken care of. At that moment, he slowly turned to look at me, scowling.
"Did you really think I didn't see that one coming" I said, letting out a giggle as I made my way over to Yoongi.
"When did you even have the time?" he swung his arm around my waist, pouting like the cutest kid ever, it was hard to believe I ever thought he was cold and distant.
"Who even cares" it was my time to run my hand through his incredibly silky black locks, as our eyes met. As cliché as it sounded, in that moment, the embarrassed waiter that was still nearby disappeared, the entire restaurant disappeared, the only ones that remained were me, Yoongi and the tension I couldn't ignore anymore.
My eyes traveled to his thin lips as I imagined them pressed against mine. Even though we had already kissed once, this felt like the buildup of weeks leading up to a first kiss on a first date. I felt his hand press on my lower back making me lose my balance and tumble forward, ending up a few inches away from him.
"We should get you home"
I internally cried when I heard those words, but somehow a wave of relief also washed over me. We gathered our belongings and exited the restaurant. I could still feel the cold breeze hitting my cheeks as well as my hands. I bought them together to my lips, blowing soft air on them until I heard Yoongi chuckle and wrap his hand around one of them, bringing it to the pocket of his hoodie. I giggled but stayed put, our fingers intertwined.
By the time I got home, I was sure to be in love. No one had ever treated me with as much care as this seemingly cold college student had. And even more important, never had I been so comfortable, in all aspects, with anyone in my life.
