Who would have thought that in this life, he would have the opportunity to stand in front of the same grave again, at the same time, wearing the same clothes, but in a slightly different atmosphere. Everything seemed the same. The only difference was the person lying in that grave.
Once the events in the house were over, the first thing they had to face was not only giving statements at the police station, but organizing a funeral for someone who will never return.
As the oldest on the team, Alan was in charge, just like at Charlie's funeral. And this time, it's not just a doll that looks like a human, but the actual lifeless body of Babe's only close friend in the grave. Babe himself volunteered to bring Way here.
The atmosphere at Way's funeral was almost no different from Charlie's funeral. Whether it's the overwhelming grief, the gloomy sky, or the number of people attending.
Seeing this, made Babe feels
a pang of sadness because, in the end, Way was just like him and Charlie. His upbringing and growth were the same, and when they died they only had a few mourners .But if it's said that Way received less love than the others, that would not be true because everyone here genuinely loved Way, and the small number of mourners didn't make this friend's death any less painful. No matter how much wrong Way did in the past, no human can deny their pain; even Pete, the powerful figure, had to surrender to it.
"Do you want to stay a little longer?" Charlie asked Babe after everyone gradually walked away.
Way's ceremony was quite simple: only mourning flowers were placed, and a brief farewell was given. So it didn't take long. Only Babe remained there motionless from the start.
"Yes." Babe replied softly, "You can go wait with Jeff."
"Jeff is with Alan now. I don't have to accompany him."
"Way was a jerk to me." Babe said bluntly, so straightforward that Charlie wasn't sure how to respond. The expression in Babe's eyes at the moment was hard to decipher. It seemed empty at one moment, but filled with an indescribable sadness at another.
"He deceived me for ten years. I will never forgive him. I will always resent him."
"But even so, you agreed to his plan."
"There you go. I don't know why I agreed to do what he said at that moment. Even though he had deceived me like that." The owner of the body took a deep breath, feeling suffocated, as he didn't even understand himself very well.
"I think, deep down in your heart, you still trusted P'Way. Maybe, because you had been together for so long. I believe falsehood is falsehood, but there were many things he genuinely did for you. Otherwise, you couldn't have been together for so long. After all, P'Way loved you."
Charlie spoke softly, looking at Way's photo attached to the tombstone.
"..."
"Even though I didn't like him and I'm angry with him for doing that to you, I can feel that he genuinely loved you."
"You're not the only one. I could feel it too."
Charlie knew Babe must be filled with confusion since a close friend died right in front of his eyes. And this close friend had done the most terrible thing to Babe, but at the same time, had always been there with genuine feelings. That's why it was difficult for Babe to describe how he felt.should feel
"That bastard did everything behind my back." The alpha sighed deeply as if suppressing some emotions before speaking again: "When I was injured, Way managed to find the person who did it. Pete told me he ordered his men to beat that person until they were paralyzed."
