                                           _

After Tessa spent the night at Eli's house, she figured her father would be home in no time assuming her 'grandfather' Sid, would have him bailed out by the morning.

She got dropped back off at home by Eli's mom the next morning, seeing her father's car where it's usually parked, a weight was lifted off her chest.

"Sweetheart, are you sure you're gonna be okay? It's no problem for you to stay for a few more days." Eli's mom asked the girl as she was getting out the car.

"It's alright Ms. Moskowitz. Thank you so much, for everything. I hope i wasn't any trouble" Tessa responded back tossing her bag on her back.

"Of course dear. you always have a place at our home, if you need anything, anything at all call me."

"Thank you!" Tessa yelled back and waved as she ran over to her apartment, unlocking it.

-

Eli's mom had a soft spot for Tessa, she knew the situation with her mother wasn't the best and tried to be a motherly figure to her.

She not only loved Tessa as a daughter because of her kindness, bubbly personality, and carefree spirit, she loved Tessa because the smile she put on Eli's face, how his whole personality changed and how his face lit up around the girl. She knew the two were bound soulmates. But neither Eli or Tessa knew that just yet.

-

"Yeah sid, you were the stepfather of the century." Tessa walked in to the house hearing her dad say

"Dad- sid? What are you doing here?" Tessa said visibly confused.

"Theresa, good to see you." Sid responded

Tessa set down her bag and sat on the yellow chair waving to the lady on the couch, listening to her father and sid speak.

"Well, high-praise, coming from a world-class daddy like you. How old is Robby now, 15? 16? Whens the last time you saw him? and you just got into Theresa's life. Real role model you are."

Johnny turned around at that comment, icing his neck.

"Just get the hell out of here man!"

"I'll get the hell out of here when I'm goddamn good and ready!" Sid snapped back.

"Sid!" The lady on the couch said

"What?!"

"Blood pressure!"

"Keep watching your bullshit judge show, will ya Rhonda. And stay out of this!" Tessa thought to herself, in all the time she hasn't seen him in, he was becoming more of an asshole by the second.

"This is why I'm here."

"Whats this?" Johnny grabbed the paper clearly confused.

"You know, i told your mama id take care of you always, but in this case, i think even she would cut me some slack."

"Im buying you out of my life. And your daughter." That was a comment that didn't catch johnny off guard, but surely caught Tessa.

"I'd rather be homeless than take money from you" johnny snapped back while ripping up the check.

"Oh, well, hell. Yeah, ok. Rhonda! Lunchtime! Call arts, see if  they got the belly lox."
