CHAPTER FOUR

Tessas sleep was interrupted by yet again, another shoe getting thrown at her from across the room, by her father.

"Tessy! Wake up."

"What?" Tessa said back with her normal morning attitude

"Throw on your slippers or something come on"

"What why?"

"I have something to tell you and the neighbor boy" her dad said to her obviously in a hurry

"Uhh, okay.."

Tessa followed her dad out the door of their apartment, very curious with where whatever this was, was gonna lead to.

Johnny and Tessa stood behind Miguel, Johnny looking confident and Tessa looking confused.

"Are you sure you're ready? 'Cause once you go down this path, theres no turning back." Johnny said first.

"Uhh, what path?" Tessa asked but received no answer

"You're gonna be my karate teacher?" Miguel said back

"No. Im gonna be your sensei."

There was an awkward silence before Tessa decided to speak up

"Karate? Sensei? One of you mind filling me in?" Tessa asked confusingly to both of them

"Im your sensei." Johnny told the girl before walking back inside their apartment still leaving's the girl confused

Tessa noticed she was still standing in-front of Miguel without a clue in the world what this interaction was about

"Hey Miguel.. what was uh, that about?"

"He didn't tell you? He's opening a karate dojo! We're gonna kick ass Tessa!" Miguel said to her with a huge smile on his face

"We? Who said i was gonna join"

"What? No you have to join Tessa! Come on! Don't make me do this alone" the boy begged Tessa

"Okay! Whatever fine but if i have to break a board with this beautiful face, im out." Tessa said in sarcasm

"Understandable."

"TESSA, THERESA! Come help me!" They heard her dad yell from the apartment.

"Well, I'll see you whenever Miguel!" Tessa said before running off to help her dad with whatever he had up his sleeve next.

"Dad- um, what are you doing.." she looked at her dad with a genuine look of surprise

"Lookin' for the check tessy, come on help me!"

"Alright then.." Tessa said sitting on the ground going through the trash with her dad.

"Found a half!" Tessa yelled holding the half in the air

"Me to, get dressed lets go lets go!" Johnny hurried his daughter up

Tessa looked around in the soon to be dojo, as her father got handed the keys. She thought to herself how in the hell was this gonna work.

"Dad! This is so cool, can i be like a second sensei?" Tessa turned to her father

"What? No I'm the sensei- the only sensei, and you don't even know karate yet tessy."

"Hey! I know a little." Tessa told him

"Whatever, come on help me get this place in shape." Johnny told his daughter handing her a box of trophies.

"I get to decorate? Im gonna make this place so cute."  Tessa said as she ran around in the dojo, helping her dad with whatever she could.

Johnny smiled to himself at his daughter's excitement, he seen a part of himself in her from time to time. He just hoped she wouldn't end up like him.

"Strike first? Strike hard? No mercy? My god dad what is this, a cult?" Tessa said rolling her eyes dramatically, just like her father.

"What? No it's not a cult, I'm gonna teach these pussies how to un-pussy!" Johnny said before singling his daughter to the door he was holding open

Tessa laughed at her dad's weird sense of humor, that she ironically got from him too.
