"It would be in your best interest to leave." Warner mumbles after Kenji mentions the time.
Pretty late, almost midnight.
We've been here for a while, much to the blonde man's dismay.

"I never do what's best for me." Kenji shrugs, kicking his feet up on the coffee table, daring Warner to do something.

I would be enjoying their childish behaviour if my mind wasn't focused on something else.
The note.

I've been wrapping my head around each word, every single syllable. A message like this doesn't seem like a big deal at first, however my gut is telling me that it's not a good thing.

Nice to see you.
I haven't seen anyone out of the ordinary as of late. See must mean whoever sent it is watching me.
To creep me out, scare me?
A way of establishing control over my mind.
The theory that makes most sense to me, I haven't had any physical contact or interaction with whoever this is.

Or actually I might have.
Again.
W-

"Naz," Kenji places his hand on my shoulder, and I look up at him. His eyebrows are drawn together, and I glance at Ella and Warner.
She smiles at me while I notice Warner trying to read my emotions.
Good luck with that.

"Yes?" I finally answer Kenji, watching as his mouth contorts into a frown.
Before he can say anything, I rise from my seat and bid the Warners a goodnight.

"I'm just tired." I wave a hand and Ella squeezes me as a farewell.
Warner nods at me and I turn to my boyfriend,

"You can stay if you want."
But he shakes his head and says goodbye to them as well.
My hand finds his as we make the short walk home.

What could again mean?
Who do I know, or did know, that is so delighted to be stalking me?
Why invisible ink on an envelope?
It's humorous to be sending passages through such juvenile tactics. I almost laughed aloud when I figured it out.
Are the-

"Helloooo?" Kenji taps my temple as we walk through our hallway.
"What's going on up here?"

I glance at my boyfriend,
"I have this complex organ called a brain. Something you may not own."
Go ahead to get a glass of water from the sink.

He does not look amused and crosses his arms.
"You have such a way with words."

My lips curve up as I finish gulping down the water.
Kenji crosses the room and tilts his head at me.
There are no words spoken from either of us.
My gaze locked with his concentrated one.

He answers before I can ask,
"I'm trying to develop mind reading abilities."

"Right."

Kenji puts a forefinger to each side of his head, looks at me with a dead serious expression,
"You are currently thinking about...how to weaponize a huge army of poisonous spiders in order to rule the animal kingdom,-"

He squints his eyes as if searching thoroughly,
"-and...cupcakes."

What-
I fail to hide my smile, and shake my head to stop myself from laughing at his nonsense.
It does not take much from this man to lift my spirits.

Kenji matches my grin and cups the side of my face with his hand. He mindlessly massages my cheek, staring at me with soft dark eyes that make me feel assured. At peace.

"On the extremely off chance that I'm wrong," he says gently,
"What are you thinking about?"

I contemplate telling him.
It would be a waste, it's not like my life or anyone else's elses in jeopardy.
It's just a small irrelevant note, nothing huge has happened.
And, on the likelihood of this being a serious concern, I would not want to drag Kenji into it.
So...
