Yeonjun was absentmindedly writing on his book. His mind traveling to places he had been trying to avoid. Not that dark place though, not that one.
All he could see was Soobin. Choi freaking Soobin, his dimpled smiles under the morning light. He still can't get that image out of his head.
"Yeonjun." The boy said.
"Yeonjun?" Yeonjun just stared at the male's eyes, admiring the warm light reflecting off of his brown eyes.
"Choi Yeonjun!"
Wait— his voice is different.
Yeonjun shook his head. He could feel his body being shaken lightly.
"Yeonjun?? Where the fuck are you?"
Yeonjun blinked rapidly. He saw his friend in front of him.
Oh right— the project with Taehyun.
Yeonjun cleared his throat. "Uh— sorry.. umm.. was— I was thinking." He scratched the back of his neck, trying to avoid the other's eyes.
"Yeah, clearly." Taehyun furrowed his eyebrows. "What are you thinking about huh? You smiling like that." His voice changed, into a teasing one as he leaned in to the other boy.
"What—" Yeonjun's face quickly betrayed him and turned to a faint shade of red. "I wasn't smiling."
"Oh— you're thinking about someone, aren't you?"
Yeonjun tried to suppress the flush on his cheeks, but it only deepened when Taehyun raised an eyebrow, waiting for an answer.
"It's nothing," Yeonjun mumbled, his voice quieter than he intended.
Taehyun smirked, not letting it go that easily. "You're a terrible liar, Yeonjun. Come on, who's got you all distracted?"
Yeonjun sighed, realizing there was no point in dodging Taehyun's persistence. "It's... it's just Soobin," he said, keeping his voice steady but feeling the weight of the admission.
"Soobin?" Taehyun repeated, leaning back in his chair with a thoughtful expression. "Choi Soobin? The one who keeps finding reasons to bug you? The one you were complaining about just a week ago?"
"Yeah, that Soobin," Yeonjun confirmed, his lips pressing into a thin line. "But he's not... bugging me anymore. I don't know. It's like he's trying to be my friend or something."
Taehyun's eyes widened slightly in surprise. "Really? You're actually letting him?"
Yeonjun shrugged, looking away. "I don't know, man. It's... weird. He's weird."
"Is it that weird, or are you just not used to someone actually wanting to get close to you?" Taehyun's tone was light, but his words hit a bit closer to home than Yeonjun wanted to admit.
"Maybe both," Yeonjun muttered. "But don't make a big deal out of it. It's just... different."
Taehyun nodded slowly, taking in Yeonjun's words. After a moment, he is the one who started to form a smirk on his face. "Speaking of people trying to get close... how's Beomgyu these days?"
Taehyun's smirk faltered for a split second, and Yeonjun noticed the faintest hint of red creeping up his friend's neck. "What are you talking about?" Taehyun said, feigning ignorance, but Yeonjun wasn't buying it.
"Come on, Taehyun. You really think I haven't noticed? You and Beomgyu... you're not as subtle as you think."
Taehyun opened his mouth to protest, but then closed it, realizing there was no point. He sighed, leaning forward, elbows on the table. "Alright, fine. We've been... hanging out more. But don't you dare go around telling anyone."
Yeonjun couldn't help the small, smug grin that crept onto his face. "Your secret's safe with me. But you're lucky I'm too distracted by other things, or I'd be teasing you a lot more."
Taehyun rolled his eyes, but there was a softness in his expression. "Thanks, Yeonjun. Seriously, though, if Soobin's trying to be your friend... maybe give him a chance? You don't have to let your guard down completely, but... you never know. He might surprise you."
Yeonjun nodded, his grin fading as he considered Taehyun's words.
"Yeah... maybe."
