"That's my pumpkin." Sandy yelled out with a smile. Without any reply, Lauren went into the car; the back passenger's seat specifically.
The smile on Sandy's face vanished and turned to a look of sympathy as she joined her in the car. Sandy stayed motionless at the driver's seat for a long time without starting the car neither did she utter any word.
Lauren got pissed. "What's taking so long mom?." She said angrily in a low tone.
Without turning over, Sandy replied."You always sit in front with me, today shouldn't be different."After a quick grumble, Lauren muttered."f*ck it." Arrogantly, she stepped out of the car and joined Sandy in front as she slammed the door aggressively.
"Happy now?."
Sandy grinned."much better." She started the car and made her way out of the school car park. While on their way home, there was a long silence in the car until Sandy broke it.
"Soo, how was scho_"
Lauren cut in rather quickly."Eddie broke his arm."
Sandy paused for a while as her jaw dropped in shock. "Oh my God sweetie I'm so sorry, what happened to him?."
"During practice a....a guy broke his arm so he was rushed to the school clinic."
"That's really bad. I'll make out time to see his mom."Lauren glared at her and scoffed sarcastically."
"What's with that?."
"Nothing, just.....you say things like you actually have time for them."
"Of course I'll see them, I'm serious about this. Eddie means so much to you and as a result, I see him as my son."We'll see if you'll be able to make it out of your choked up business.
Silence fell in the car as Sandy decided to break it again.
"Soo, how have you been feeling lately?."
"Indifferent." Lauren answered looking down to her cell phone. Sandy gave her a quick, questioning stare.Lauren, having a sudden knowing thought looked up to her and answered. "Better than before I saw the doctor though."
Sandy nodded. "If you encounter any other difficulty don't hesitate to let me know on time okay?."
Lauren nodded. At once, they both recalled the scary scenario they've been through lately and previously like they've shared it with one another but they haven't. Lauren didn't even have a second thought of letting Sandy know about it.
The picture of the dark image flashed through Sandy's head causing her to jerk on the steering wheel in shock. Lauren turned to her.
"Are you okay?."
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." Sandy answered trying to put herself together. Lauren shrugged and plugged in her ear phones. She was listening to slow dancing in a burning room by John Mayer. Some how, she felt a connection with the song's lyrics not knowing when the thought of Douglas crept into her mind then suddenly, she was all over him. She leaned back on the seat as there was a smile at the corner of her lips. She had fallen in love with a guy she barely knew.
The jittery feeling dawned on her again. She didn't want to escape the feeling that moment gave her. She savoured it so well. Not until a red Chevrolet Camaro SS pulled up beside them with thesame speed limit.
A brown skin lady and her daughter were seen inside the car angrily yelling at each other. When the lady noticed Lauren's long stare, she drove off with high speed. Lauren then leaned back on the seat and exhaled deeply.

The red Chevrolet stopped in it's tracks in front of a comtempoary building. There was an open floor plan with large front porch. Vegetation circulated around the building with a basketball court beside it. There was also a large swimming pool in the vicinity.Clean lines, geometric shapes, lush land scaping, water views, the house and environment was beyond fantastic. It portrayed a sense of sublety, simplicity and elegance.
