3 months later...

Three months had passed since that terrifying night in the hospital, and Andrew had made a full recovery. The physical scars were healing, but the emotional bond between him and Lexi had grown stronger than ever. Their lives had been forever changed, not only by the ordeal but by the impending arrival of their twin daughters. Lexi was now nine months pregnant, and the anticipation of meeting their little girls was overwhelming.

Today was a special day—Brent and Pierson had come over to help Lexi and Andrew finish decorating the nursery. The room was a soft, soothing shade of pink, with delicate white furniture and adorable little accents that reflected the excitement and love that had gone into preparing for their daughters' arrival.

"Lexi, where do you want these?" Pierson asked, holding up a pair of matching stuffed animals—a bunny and a bear—that they had just picked out for the nursery.

Lexi smiled, her hand resting on her swollen belly. "Right there, on the shelf above the changing table. They'll be perfect there."

Brent, who had been helping Andrew hang a mobile over the cribs, stepped back to admire their work. "This room is looking pretty amazing," he said with a grin. "Those girls are going to be spoiled."

Andrew chuckled, walking over to Lexi and wrapping his arms around her from behind, resting his hands on her belly. "They're going to be our little princesses," he said, leaning down to kiss her cheek. Then, with a mischievous grin, he knelt in front of her, his face level with her bump.

"Hey, you two," he said softly, his hands cradling Lexi's belly as he spoke to their daughters. "You've got a pretty cool room waiting for you. And I promise, I'm going to be the best dad ever. Just you wait."

Lexi couldn't help but laugh, though the sound was filled with emotion. "What about me?" she teased playfully. "Am I chopped liver now?"

Andrew looked up at her, his eyes twinkling with affection. He stood up, lifting her off the ground and spinning her around, despite her protests. "You're my queen, and don't you forget it," he said, pressing a kiss to her lips.

"Okay, you two, save it for later," Pier teased, rolling her eyes good-naturedly. She turned to Brent, who was watching Lexi and Andrew with an amused expression. Without warning, she reached up and planted a quick kiss on his lips, catching him off guard. Brent grinned, clearly enjoying the unexpected affection.

But just as Lexi was about to respond with a playful retort, she felt a sudden, sharp pain in her abdomen. Her eyes widened in surprise as she gasped, clutching her belly.

"Lexi, what's wrong?" Andrew asked, his voice full of concern as he immediately steadied her.

Lexi looked up at him, her eyes wide with a mixture of excitement and fear. "I think... I think my water just broke," she managed to say, her voice trembling slightly.

For a moment, everything was still as the realization hit them all. Then, all hell broke loose.

"Oh my God, Lexi, we've got to get you to the hospital!" Pier exclaimed, rushing to grab Lexi's hospital bag that they had prepared weeks ago.

Brent was already grabbing the car keys. "Andrew, let's go!" he urged, his usual calm demeanor replaced with urgency.

Andrew's heart was racing, but he kept his focus on Lexi. He scooped her up in his arms, careful but quick.

He headed straight for the door. "It's okay, Lex," he whispered to her as he carried her to the car. "We're going to meet our little girls soon."

Pier and Brent followed closely behind, Brent already starting the car while Pierson gave Lexi reassuring words. "You've got this, Lexi," she said, trying to keep the mood light. "And don't worry, we'll be right there with you."

As they sped off toward the hospital, Andrew held Lexi's hand tightly, his mind racing with a mix of excitement and nerves. The moment they had been waiting for was finally here, and nothing could have prepared them for the rush of emotions that came with it.

The countdown to parenthood had officially begun.
