Chapter Eleven - Fury Unbound
Confrontation (Seokjin: Jeongguk)
Seokjin and Jeongguk landed with a jolt, eyes snapping open as they found themselves back in the middle of the yellow fields of Herbaela. Everything around them seemed like a blur, the vibrant colors of the field distorted as if seen through a foggy lens. Seokjin stood motionless, dazed and bewildered, his mind struggling to piece together the fragments of what had just occurred. Jeongguk, on the other hand, felt an inexplicable shift within him, his heart pounding erratically in his chest. He stared blankly ahead, his confusion mirroring Seokjin's.
"Did something happen?" Seokjin's voice was barely audible, a soft murmur as he tried to process the situation. The last thing he remembered was standing in the yellow field, spotting a flower with unique petals, and leaning in to catch its scent. Now, as his gaze darted around the field, there was no sign of the peculiar plant. It was as if it had vanished into thin air.
Jeongguk watched Seokjin, his head still swimming in a haze. His muscles ached with an inexplicable soreness, and a strange sense of disorientation clung to him, heavy and oppressive. It was as if he had undergone a shift, but the memory of it was lost in the void.
"I don't feel well," Jeongguk murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. He glanced at Seokjin, concern lacing his words. "What the fuck happened"
But Seokjin remained rooted to the spot, his eyes fixated on his tightly clenched hand. Slowly, he opened his fingers, revealing a single black petal resting in his palm. It was inky black, unlike anything he had ever seen before. He lifted it closer to his face, puzzled by its presence.
Jeongguk stepped closer, his gaze locked on the mysterious petal. "What is that?" he asked, trying to dredge up any memory that might explain how the petal had come into Seokjin's possession. But his mind was frustratingly blank, as if the past few minutes had been erased.
"I don't know," Seokjin replied, shaking his head slowly. His confusion deepened as he turned the petal over in his hand. "I don't remember anything from the last few minutes. It's like... we were just standing here, and now suddenly, this?" He gestured vaguely around them, the fragmented memories slipping further out of reach.
Jeongguk rubbed the back of his neck, wincing as a dull ache radiated through his muscles. It was the kind of pain he associated with shifting into his wolf form, but there was no memory of the transformation. "I feel like I've shifted," he said, staring down at his hands as if searching for answers in the lines of his palms. "But I don't remember doing it. It's just... gone."
Seokjin's gaze dropped back to the black petal, still resting in his palm like a cryptic token from another world. "This petal... it looks like a moonflower, doesn't it? But moonflowers aren't black. At least, not to my knowledge." He turned it over again, his brows furrowed in concentration. "It feels important somehow. Like it's connected to what just happened, but I can't figure out how."
They stood in silence, the eerie stillness of the field pressing in around them as they grappled with the inexplicable event. The air was thick with unspoken questions, each one hanging heavily between them, waiting for an answer that seemed just out of reach.
"I think Yoongi-hyung might have an answer," Jeongguk finally broke the silence, his voice hesitant but laced with a faint hope.
Seokjin nodded, though the perplexity didn't leave his eyes. "Yeah, probably," he agreed, though his tone lacked conviction. He turned towards the plant preservation room, his steps slow and deliberate, as if moving through a dream. Inside, he found a protection cover, carefully placing the black petal inside before slipping it into his pocket. There was a sense of urgency in his movements, a need to hold onto something tangible amid the confusion.
