Chapter Fourteen - CRIMSON MOON
Discoveries ( Jeongguk: Yoongi)
Jeongguk woke up, squinting against the bright sunlight streaming through the curtains, filling the room with a warm glow. As he reached for his phone on the nightstand to check the time, it vibrated in his hand, displaying Yoongi’s name on the screen.
“Hyung,” Jeongguk answered, his voice groggy.
“Jeongguk-ah, where are you?” Yoongi’s voice was calm but firm.
“Uh… I…” Jeongguk hesitated, unsure of how to explain. “You might… I don’t know if you’ll approve of this or…”
“What did you do?” Yoongi’s tone sharpened, sensing Jeongguk’s unease.
“Nothing,” Jeongguk replied quickly, trying to sound nonchalant.
“Look, don’t get into any trouble....that’s all I’m asking,” Yoongi warned. “Did you check the text I sent you last night?”
“No, hyung… I didn’t,” Jeongguk admitted, bringing his phone away from his ear to check his messages. His screen was filled with notifications.
“Jeongguk,” Yoongi’s voice brought him back. “Don’t bother looking. I deleted it. I didn’t want to leave any record of it on the phone.”
Jeongguk’s heart skipped a beat. “What’s wrong? Is something wrong? Are you okay, hyung?”
“Yes, I’m fine,” Yoongi reassured him. “I went to AOL to do some research. And I think I might have found something. But I need more details. I’m going back again today.”
“About what?” Jeongguk asked, concern creeping into his voice.
“About the attacker,” Yoongi said, his tone serious.
Jeongguk sat up straighter, the weight of the conversation settling in. “Did you find anything?”
“I’m not sure… but I found a clue,” Yoongi began, his voice tinged with unease. “The scent the attacker left behind.it’s associated with a rare and ancient cult. They call themselves the Crimson Moon. They’re believed to harness dark and forbidden magic. A cult that actively worked against the deity.”
Jeongguk’s breath hitched, a chill running down his spine. "Crimson Moon?" He repeated, the name feeling foreign and menacing on his tongue. "I’ve never heard of them."
Yoongi’s voice dropped lower, as if the very mention of the name could summon danger. “They’re mentioned only in a few ancient texts, and even then, they were thought to be wiped out centuries ago. But if someone is using their techniques now, it could mean they’ve resurfaced… or worse, they never disappeared at all.”
Jeongguk’s mind raced as he tried to process the enormity of what Yoongi was saying. "So, you’re telling me we’re dealing with part of an ancient cult? One that practices dark magic?"
“Yes,” Yoongi confirmed, his tone grim. “And that’s not all.” He paused, as if considering how much more to reveal. “According to the texts, the members of Crimson Moon were marked. They carried a symbol, a tattoo or an imprint, to signify their allegiance. A sign of their loyalty to the cult.”
