chapter sixty-eight: ika nigiri
Nova sat curled in a ball on one of the couches in the former Umbrella Academy. Silent tears continued to roll down her cheeks. Physically,y she still felt like absolute shit. Mentally, she wasn't even present. Earlier, Allison and Klaus helped Nova burn Avery's body deep in the woods. As they had been scattering her ashes and remains Luther had texted in their family group chat asking if anyone else had been feeling weird all morning.
Now everyone was gathered in the main sitting room of the former Umbrella Academy. Allison, lay slumped on the other end of Nova's couch. Klaus paced the room examining various things that were left behind. Luther hid by some pillar. Five sat on the couch across from her looking like he was ready to blow his brains out but still glancing worriedly at Nova every once and a while. Meanwhile, Diego and Lila argued loudly on the other side of the room. Their yells help no one's pounding headaches.
"Someone explain what the hell is going on here quick," Viktor demanded as he stomped into the room.
"Well, Viktor, that's what we're all trying to figure out," Five managed to grumble out.
"Oh God, don't look at me!" Luther cried dramatically from the corner.
"No one's blaming you, Luther," Diego said as he rolled his eyes.
"No! I mean, don't look at me! I'm hideous," Luther exclaimed gesturing to his large gorilla body that had seemingly returned in the middle of the night.
"At least you're back to your old self, alright?" Five snapped, "The rest of us feel like someone injected motor oil in our veins."
"It's so strange. Because I, for once, feel fantastic," Klaus bragged but then backpedaled when he saw the tormented look on Nova's face. "I mean besides what we had to deal with this morning."
"Yeah, you think you have problems? Look at this," Lila spat.
"Oh wait, no! No!" Diego exclaimed attempting to stop Lila who suddenly shot lasers out of her eyes. Everyone exclaimed fearfully as the lasers swung around the room. Except for Nova. The girl barely even flinched at the action.
"What the hell?" Luther exclaimed as he sadly surveyed the ruined walls her worked so hard to restore.
"I'm sorry," Lila apologized before the lasers shot out of her eyes once more.
"Turn it off!" Luther cried fearfully.
"I don't know how!" Lila snapped. A few moments later the lasers dimmed from her eyes.
"Well, I can see how that's inconvenient and all but I was more speaking about what happened with Nova this morning," Klaus rambled. Everyone suddenly turned to Nova confused. However, the girl was glaring at Klaus with dark narrowed eyes.
