×Sunghoon's pov×
"What's up, Jake?"
"I'm sorry, Sunghoonnn."
Sunghoon immediately jumped off the couch, his knee hurt, but he tried to ignore it at that moment, his eyes wide open.
"Why are you crying?"
"It's nothing, I just wanted to- apologise for- Felix hyung's behaviour."
"Good, now stay home, don't move, I'll be there soon."
Sunghoon hung up, grabbed his keys, slipped into his air force carefully, and looked at Jay, who seemed worried.
"I'll be back soon, hopefully. Sunoo, Ni-ki, want me to drop you off?"
Sunghoon said as fast as he could. Sunoo and Ni-ki shared a look, then slowly nodded, following the elder outside the house.
"What happened to Jake hyung?"
"I don't know, Ni-ki. I'll go check up on him, you don't have to worry about it, okay?"
Sunghoon said, as he opened the car's back door, letting the boys in, making sure they were okay.
He wanted to ignore the speed limits, wanting to get to Jake as fast as possible, and he would, if Sunoo and Ni-ki weren't there.
Jake would never call him crying. He would often cry in front of him, but never call him crying.
"Hyung, calm down, it's probably all fine, you're just worrying a bit too much because he's never called you while crying."
Sunoo said, reaching out from the back seat, placing his hand on the elder's shoulder, stroking it.
Sunghoon's grip tightened on the steering wheel, his knuckles white. Sunoo's hand was a small comfort, a reassuring presence against the storm raging inside him.
"There you are, guys. Goodnight!"
He dropped off Sunoo and Ni-ki at their house, their sleepy goodbyes barely registering. Now, he was alone with the car, the silence, and the gnawing feeling of helplessness.
He knew Jake wouldn't call him in the middle of the night unless something was truly wrong, something that had him unraveling.
As he approached Jake's apartment complex, Sunghoon's heart pounded against his ribs.
He parked in front of the building, the only sound the faint hum of the engine. He leaned back in the seat, taking a deep breath, his mind a whirlwind of worries.
Sunghoon stepped out of the car, the cool night air hitting him like a wave. He took the stairs two at a time, not caring how much his knee hurt, as if it was about to break, the echo of his footsteps the only sound in the silent hallway.
He reached Jake's door, and his hand hovered over the knob, hesitant. He knocked, the sound loud and abrupt in the silence.
The door creaked open, revealing Jake's silhouette against the dim light from the hallway. He looked pale, his hair tousled, his eyes red-rimmed and swollen.
"Jake..."
Sunghoon's voice was a gentle whisper, choked with concern. Jake didn't speak. He simply stood there, his eyes fixed on Sunghoon, his expression a mixture of pain and relief.
Sunghoon stepped inside, closing the door behind him. He gently wrapped his arms around Jake, pulling him close.
He didn't really like it. Hugs made him feel weird. But Jake was sad, and Sunghoon didn't know what else to do.
"It's okay, Jake."
He murmured, burying his face in Jake's hair. He held him tight, not wanting to let go, he had to make him feel safe.
As Jake's sobs subsided, Sunghoon simply held him, offering silent comfort. The night stretched on, the street lights outside casting dim shadows on the walls.
"I'm really sorry for the way he acted. I know, I'm just overthinking, but I can't help it. I saw your face. And the worst part is, his possessiveness... That's too much."
Sunghoon didn't know what to do. He didn't know how to comfort people, because no one ever comforted him.
No one ever had to comfort him. He would always smile, wiping any bad thoughts away.
"Jake, calm down, you don't have to apologise. I'm okay. As for Felix..."
"There's no excuse. He- he doesn't even like me, you know?"
"Yeah this is weird."
Sunghoon wiped Jake's tears away, since that was the only thing he could think of at that moment.
"I will- I will call my cousin. He knows literally everything about this whole thing, I need to update him."
"Who? The one for whom you always talk about and everyone else met but not me because I was sick?"
Jake smiled slightly, and giggled, as he scrolled up his contact list to find his cousin's contact.
At least I made him smile.
As Jake called his cousin, Sunghoon gave him a last quick hug, and offered him a big smile.
"I'm leaving, you will be okay, right?"
Jake nodded, smiling back weakly, and Sunghoon sighed. He was feeling guilty for leaving him.
But he knew that Jake wouldn't lie, saying that he was okay with Sunghoon leaving.
So Sunghoon stepped out of the house, looking around him, only seeing his car under the building's lights.
Taking a deep breath, he got into the car, and drove off, this time with a clearer mind and more relaxed mood.
He got home just fine, not worried anymore. At least that's what he wanted to believe.
"Is Jake okay?"
Jay asked, the moment Sunghoon stepped into the house. Both Jungwon and Jay looked extremely worried.
Sunghoon couldn't even understand what Jay was telling him. All the stress and sleepiness made him so tired and dizzy.
He just nodded, without knowing with what he was agreeing, falling on the couch, his hands on his knee. It was a really tiring day.
"Hey, you should relax for a while. You did a lot today, I'll take care of the rest."
Sunghoon smiled slightly. But his knee hurt bad enough for him to not be able to get up and walk through his room, and he reached out for Jay with both of his arms extended, like a baby.
"Okay, here, I'll take you."
Jay whispered, taking Sunghoon on his arms, bride-style, like the time he had fallen down.
