Jungkook POV:
"There she is, did you hear what happened between her and Chanyeol?", I heard murmurs all around the cafeteria as soon as Chaeyoung stepped in. As usual, she went to the table beside the window and sat alone. I don't know where I got the courage from, but I took my plate and walked to her table.
I tapped the table to get her attention and asked, “Can I sit here?"
She put down the book she was reading and her spoon onto her tray. She then clasped both her hands and stared at me unamused.
"Why are you here Jeon?"
"I just wanted to sit here."
"You never do that, no one does. Did you forget all the rumors? I am crazy. Why don't you go back to your table and let me have my lunch in peace?"

"I will not disturb you. I will just sit here silently and have my food."
She scoffed, "Just because I saved you from your bullies once, you want me to be your shield again? That is why you are here, aren't you? So they don't bother you anymore?"
I placed my tray on her table, "I was never afraid of a few punches and will never be. I just want to sit here because I hate seeing you lonely. Think of it as a thank you, but the moment you saved my ass from Chanyeol you got yourself a friend."
Her eyes softened a little, and she murmured, "I don't need any friends, but if you want to sit here so badly. Go on."
I smiled and sat down, the murmurs around me increased.
"But I am not listening to any chit chat nor am I going to talk to you. Just let me have my lunch and read my book in peace."

I gestured zipping my mouth and throwing the key away. I started eating my food.
She picked up her book and continued eating in silence.
Everyone was looking at us, everyone was whispering, and the birds outside the window were chirping but for the first time, I didn't care about my surroundings. All that mattered was her.
Park Chaeyoung who never had any company since middle school was having lunch with me. I felt special.
