Chaeyoung's POV
The drive to the airport felt like a dream, everything moving too fast and too slow at the same time. I stared out the window, watching the rain streak down the glass, each drop blurring the outside world. Jungkook sat beside me, quiet and tense, and I could feel the weight of his sadness pressing down on us both.
When we reached the airport, the bright lights and crowded spaces seemed to close in on me. It felt like stepping into a different reality where nothing was quite real. We walked through the terminal in silence, and I tried to focus on the little tasks: checking in, and getting my boarding pass. But it was hard to concentrate on anything with my mind racing.
Jungkook stayed close, his presence a steady comfort. We reached the gate, where the finality of our situation hit me hard. I could see the sadness in Jungkook’s eyes, and it made my chest tighten.
“I’m sorry,” I said softly, my voice trembling. “I didn’t want it to be like this.”
He looked at me with those sad, understanding eyes. “It’s what you need, Chaeyoung. I get that. I just... I’m going to miss you.”
"I will miss you more than you can even imagine", I wanted to say something more, to make this easier, but the lump in my throat made it hard to speak. I felt tears starting to sting my eyes. I reached out and took the box of Korean food from Jungkook’s mom, a little piece of home packed with care. It felt comforting but also incredibly sad.
I hugged Jungkook’s mom, feeling the warmth of her embrace for what may be the last time. She held me tight, and I could feel her sadness and support. I moved on to Jungkook’s dad, who gave me a gentle pat on the back. It was a small comfort, but it didn’t make saying goodbye any easier.
Finally, I turned to Jungkook. The tears were already streaming down his face, and seeing him like that broke my heart. I stepped into his arms, holding him as tightly as I could.
“I will really miss you, Kook,” I whispered into his chest. “Do not pause your life because of this. I want you to be very successful. You were the best at school, you will be the best in your profession. I will smack you if I ever find out you failed."
I pulled back, trying to smile through my tears trying to lighten the mood."Wouldn't dare to disappoint you my firecracker", he smiled sadly. That nickname now reminds me of all the memories we made and my eyes water again. He held my hands and squeezed them in assurance one last time.
The announcement for my flight came over the speakers, and I knew it was time to go. I took a deep breath and walked towards the gate, trying to stay strong. Each step felt heavier, and when I looked back, Jungkook was still standing there, waving his hand like he did at school, only this time his face was full of hope and sadness.
As I walked down the jet bridge, the roar of the plane engines seemed to drown out everything else. I looked back one last time, my heart aching as I left behind the only place that felt like home.
A/N: I know this is heartbreaking but they both need this! You will kill me if I end the story here I know. I will make them the best versions of themselves, don't worry, trust your author🥺❤️
