"𝐎𝐇 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐎𝐍!"— Shouted Cade as he wiped the sweat off the top of his eyebrow, the sun had been beating on them for hours on end, and they just couldnt seem to catch a break.

"Your crazy— they'll kill me." Silo grabbed onto another wheat bag and hoisted it over his shoulder.

"For what?" Cade continued, following after Silo with his own heavy bag. Silo gave him a dissapointed look as they both stopped, glancing over their shoulder. "You coming, May?"

May Lee jumped from the back of the truck, her bag limp on the floor as she slammed the back of the truck shut with a loud bang. "Your all set, Rylen."

Rylen gave her a cheeky thumbs up from the driver seat of the car, "I'll be back in a few!"

May Lee, hoisted her bag up, following after the two boys, as they pulled open the factory doors. A large gust of wheat filled their noises.

"Hey big guy." Cade joked, brushing past a peacekeeper.

May Lee rolled her eyes, "Oh cut it out Cade— not that you arent a peice of shit Mr. peacekeeper. Would you like to shoot me for having a peice of bread too?" she flashed him a charming smile, and the peackeeper, switched the safety off his gun, eyeing her.

"Get to work Lee."

"Oh piss off." She snapped at him, dumping the bag of wheat into the bucket.

"And you tell me to cut it out." Cade whispered, glancing at the peacekeeper over his shoulder. "I mean the big guy looks like hes shitting his pants from standing there all day, you'd think he'd get a life—" Cade was pulled away from the bucket, and grabbed by the collar of his shirt, a gun pointed at his head.

"You want to keep talking?" The peacekeeper began, "or do you want to get payed this week— and we both know you cant afford to loose a paycheck."

Cade swallowed, annoyance flashing through his eyes, but he didnt say anything, becuase he knew the peacekeeper was right.

"So why dont you three, make yourself usefull, and go to the corn grater. I dropped my hat, and I want you to get it."

"We're not old enough for the corn grater." Said Cade. The peackeeeper let go of his coller pushing him into one of the buckets, his head just narrowly missing one of the wheat blades that were lying on the table.

"Did I ask if any of you were old enough?" The peacekeeper fixed his unifrom, as if he didnt care he almost got Cade killed. "Go!"

The three of them seemed to be holding their breaths, as they stared at the machinary infront of them. The main part of it was a tall basin, where they're was a blade that constantly mixed the corn.

Cade took the first step, climbing towards the latter, "Fucking hat." He mumbled.

"Wait Cade." Silo grabbed onto the the edge of his pants, "your not seriously going in there are you?"

"Like I have a choice." Said Cade, "If I dont get his hat, then he'll dock my paycheck."

"That thing will crush you." May Lee told him, "I'll help cover your paycheck this week, we can split mine in half—"

"No, you and Rylen can barely feed the three of you as is." Cade shook his head, he wouldnt let them starve for his mistakes. "I'll just go and get the hat, its fine. Shut the proccesor off will ya?"

Silo sighed, not letting Cade go. His eyes flashed with worry before he swallowed, "Get down cade."

"No—"

"If it really means that much to you, I'll go get the hat. Just get the fuck down." Cade looked towards the two of them, before he Cade sighed, his hands gripping the latter so hard it made his knuckles turn white. His face turned pale, Cade Dean was scared, he didnt want to get the hat, but he was faced with no choice.

"No, I should've just kept my mouth shout, I'll be fine." One of his hands lifted towards his neck, before he tugged off his necklace, and flung it towards May Lee. He had made it in the fields when they first started working, using only wheat and yarn. May Lee couldnt remember a single time he had taken it off. "Hold onto it will ya? I dont want to loose it." Cade turned and began to climb up with wooden ladder, slowly and carefully before he reached the top of the bassin. He swung his leg over, sitting on the medal pole that stabilized over the inside.

"You alright up there?" Silo asked worriedly.

Cade flashed him an uneasy smile, "I think I see it!"

"Really? Can u reach it?" May lee squinted.

"Uh yeah, maybe." Cade leaned over the edge, his finger reaching into the basin trying to grab hold of the edge of the hot. "Oh, I got it— wait."

May lee held her breath as cade reached farther in, "wait Cade, your gonna fall."

"No, ill be fine!" He waved her off.

"Cade, come on get down!" She shouted at him, gripping onto his necklace.

Cade leaned further, his grip slipping off the edge of the basin. Cade let out a yelp as he dissapeared from sight, his body dropping into the basin with a loud scream.

"Cade?" May Lee yelled, Silo rushed towards the latter, clambering up with May Lee in tow, but as the both of them peeked over the basin they couldnt find him.

"Cut it out Cade, this isnt funny." Silo paled, his eyes searching through the corn.

"I- I think hes dead."
