Two weeks. Red's ignored Chloe for two whole weeks.
Red was being a bit of a coward, but she couldn't help but do her best to avoid Chloe. It was for a number of reasons - she was angry at her, she was scared about the after effects, and she was too afraid to confront her own true feelings towards her.
At best, she was delaying the inevitable. At worst, she was completely pushing Chloe away and disregarding her feelings and ruining their relationship. Friendship? She was unsure. Regardless, this wouldn't go on any longer, and Red knew it. She just chose to ignore it until the time being.
But every time she caught a glimpse of her in the hallways, she couldn't help but immediately turn around in the other direction. It was a defense mechanism, a visceral reaction. However, she was racking up tardies because of her new paths to class were much longer.
Somehow, Eva had gotten wind of their sudden disruption, because she kept asking her questions on why they haven't been together. Red never bothered to talk about it, afraid that it was too soon for her to face the burning, aching feeling in her heart.
And, knowing Chloe's somewhat despise for the brawny girl, Red kept Eva around her like a puppy. She followed her around everywhere, walked her to her classes, even brought Red to a few tourney games.
She headed out the front after her last class. As always, Eva stood right outside of the large doors, waiting for her patiently.
"Hey, how was class?" Eva greeted with a bright expression on her face.
"Okay," was all Red could muster, and she began to lead the way back to the dorms.
"Chloe's at her sword and shield training for a few hours," Eva said. "I'll come by at 6:00 and we can head over together."
"Head over to what?" Red questions.
"Boo Bash, remember? The huge Halloween party in the old Seven Dwarves' cottage?"
Red said nothing other than just nodding her head. She'd forgotten it was tonight. Her first actual party, yet she wasn't as excited as she thought she would be. Originally, and interestingly enough, Chloe had asked her to go with her before things fell apart between them.
Her heart was pounding at the thought of Chloe, partly because she was unsure of where she stood with her. Red wasn't even sure if they could consider themselves friends anymore, or if they were something else.
Something. They were definitely something.
Eva bid goodbye with a quick promise that she would be back at six o'clock to pick her up. Red opened the door to her dorm and sighed in slight relief that Chloe wasn't there. She tossed her bag next to her dresser and fell onto her bed, her eyes heavy with exhaustion. But she couldn't sleep; she only had a couple of hours to get ready and she wasn't even sure what her costume was going to be.
After dragging herself out of bed and staring at her closet for forever, or at least that's what it felt like, an idea popped into her head. Red swiftly changed into a short lace black dress, a long red cape with a hoodie, and her favorite pair of black combat boots. She took out her space buns, reverting to her long wavy hair. She was in the middle of applying light makeup when she heard a knock on her door.
Red opened her dorm door to find Chad standing there, his hair remarkably shorter than it was the last time she saw him. There was even a strand of his once blonde hair dyed blue, she noticed.
"Chloe's at practice." Red said.
Chad looked at her, noticing her costume and snickered slightly. He wasn't surprised that Red dressed as Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween, but that she had even bothered to dress up at all.
