As I wandered through the rows of books, I searched for a specific spot in the library—one that's not typically noticeable, where someone could easily hide, and with the best view through the window.
"Got it!" I declared, my voice playful and sing-song.
With a confident stride, I approached the bench and took a seat, tapping my hand firmly but gently on the table. This action caught the attention of the person sitting beside me.
"Iffat!!" Playfullness and excitement could be felt in the voice.
I maintained a straight face and said, "Give me one good reason why I should talk to you, Avni."
"I a-a-am y-your b-be-be-best friend."
I slapped him on the head when he said that—gently, but with clear irritation. "Eeww how much oil do you put on your hair!" I taunted and sarcastically cleaned my hand with his shirt.
"Ah, w-w-why d-did y-you h-h-hit me, Iff-at?" he said, holding his head up.
I didn't bother to reply and simply stood up from the bench, walking out of the library.
"Cause I don't wanna waste my energy on the guy who ghosted me 3 weeks ago..!" I said while walking forward and waving a hand at him.
"N-no I-I-did-n-not—" I glanced back, but I couldn't catch more of his words; my attention was diverted when I collided with someone again.
Why the hell I keep on colliding with people. Why rabb ji why!
I looked and-
The assignment guy.
"Hi Iffat.." he said with a smile.
Fun fact? I don't remember his name so I call him the assignment guy.
